The most I would spend would only be if I wanted to get myself a nice watch and even then I wouldn't spend over $100.

0 my grandfather used to buy me watches all the time then get offended because I wouldn't wear them. couldn't get it through his head that any normal given time I had 2 devices on me that told the time (cell phone and a psp which I mostly used as a mp3 player)

If I convert my currency to dollars then I think it was somewhere between $18 - 22

And even that was for a friend's gift, I just don't see the appeal for a watch, if anything its annoying to wear one. If I wanna know the time, the phone's always around. Though I guess a lot of people do find watches classy.

I had a nice pocket-watch that I used to wear when I worked - loved that thing, but unfortunately it stopped working.

I don't know that I'd ever buy another, because I telecommute these days, but I'm not ruling it out. Pocket-watches are the shit.

100 bucks at most. I prefer analog watches. It's much easier to check a watch than to pull out a phone.

I'd never purchase one on my own, I'd ask for it as a gift.

But I dig activity trackers and the watches on those are good enough for me. I'm currently wearing a Garmin Vivosmart HR, which was $~130.

Also what if your phone battery dies? Not like it'd be the end of the world as most places have a clock somewhere and you could ask people, but still. I see people walking around frantically nervous because their cell phone battery is at 4%...seems logical to me to push off timekeeping functions to a device that has a battery that can last for 5-10 years.

It just seems like a hassle to pull a phone out and tap the screen when all I do now is flick my wrist over. I just think a watch is hella more convenient. Even for things like stopwatches and timers, too.

Of course I own a ton of watches and am a watch guy so I am biased, but I still see enormous value in a digital watch.

The wristwatch is really just a fashion accessory. I see its functionality as strictly a timepiece becoming anachronistic.

Pretty much this. That said, I think a lot of them look nice, kind of like a bracelet. I like watches, anyway. I can't see myself spending over $100 on a watch (and probably not over $50 unless I really, really, really liked the watch), but jewelry doesn't need a practical reason to get it. If it looks nice, it's doing its job.
