It's a mod of Sun that makes it harder by giving 6 pokes to most important trainers, raising levels and giving Pokes good moves.

It's supposes to be balanced around Exp. Share, but I decided to do the game without, so I'm massively underleveled. Also I'm in semiNuzlocke conditions so no reviving Pokes midbattle and only one catch per route.

Mah boi Grimwald (Alolan Muk) is the spine of the team with Minimize - Gunk Shoot - Knock Off - Crunch. He evades almost everything and destroys all enemies.

The others hold off as best as they can, but mostly they can manage 1 hit and then die. Sonetimes not even that.

It's really fun, it's like Dark Rising only not a buggy mess.

When many enemies are running Substitute + Wish + Moody I don't feel bad at all.

All Pokemon games should have a Hard mode, I dunno why they don't.

It would be nice to have a reason to actually raise a Pokémon or two with some level of effort during the story mode.

Yeah, if you cap off levels and actually put strategy into it. They may not have the most depth, but plenty of RPGS have difficulty outside of just levels, though most of then you can circumvent with just power leveling... which I think is fine if you want to do that. Sheer power is technically a strategy that's used in real life too.

One of the biggest reasons I liked Poke Colosseum was because the bosses showed some sense of strategy and team composition, all while having to catch a shadow Pokemon during a double battle

I felt a good, difficult battle, without them having to pad stats and what not

One that gives enemy trainers more pokemon that cover weaknesses, and moves that cover weaknesses as well. As more varied item usage from trainers would work too. Sure people can still grind through it, but they were going to do that anyways.

You need to get Luma in your 3DS, it's pretty easy nowadays. The patching is done on the air, each time the game boots up. It works with the legal version of the game.

Pokemon is actually great for this.

A lot of people like to pretend it's a baby-mode easy game, but that's only the story mode. Competitively it's incredibly complex, and it wouldn't be that hard to make an AI act like a pro player. It's really just: use its own strategy, but read the situation and react accordingly, i.e. switching or using non-attack moves to their advantage.

His Pikachu with Surf was unbeatable. Then he became Alolan Raichu and got to know Muk better.
