Yes. The story / progression are boring as hell tho.

Absolutely. It's too bad the combat encounters weren't designed well around the system, making for an easy experience all throughout with the vast majority of skills and dress spheres never seeing use. It didn't help that literally every other facet of the game was either recycled, or fresh hot garbage.

This has been my argument since I first played it. Sure, the game has a lot of flaws, but it's my favorite FF battle system in the entire series. I already loved it, but then I found a way to fight one of the toughest optional bosses in the game without it even being able to attack me because of setup beforehand and good timing and awareness. I felt like it combined positive aspects of traditional RPG strategy and the more active skill of action RPGs, plus a great job system. Can't wait to get back to it in my FF marathon.

I enjoyed VII's materia and the junctioning system in VIII grew on me (mostly because it was horribly exploitable and allowed me to plow through the annoying end game boss rush).
