And Disney.

Marvel wasn't actively trying to sabotage the X-Men until then.

A lot of it is bitterness that they can't get the movie license back.

They completely got rid of Fantastic Four just for that reason. All for the better imo. I'd rather see it get canceled than SJW'd.

Also it's pretty ironic that Marvel movies are great but their comics are garbage. Meanwhile DC's movies are garbage but their comics... well they were also garbage, but just before new 52 they were really good, and now Rebirth seems like a large step in the right direction so fingers crossed.

Disney/Marvel is trying to sabotage the popularity of the X-Men brand in an attempt to lower its value so that Fox will be forced to sell the movie rights back to them. However, Fox's X-Men movies are still pretty successful, so it's kind of a futile endeavor.

The Fantastic Four movies were less successful, and it's believed that the only reason the most recent--and terrible--film was made was just so Fox can hold onto the license.

Fox having the film rights to X-Men and F4 also affects which characters Marvel can and cannot use in the MCU.

It'll be interesting to see how the X-Men movies fair now that Jackman is moving on from the Wolverine role. But tbh I'd rather have more X-Men movies right now than X-Men comics. Marvel has been stinking it up these past few years.

Not even "SJW" stuff. They just keep cramming shitty gimmicks and events into their stories that make actually enjoying a title almost impossible.

I never really cared for comics but I love doing wiki crawls, reading the occasional panel, and watching the cartoons. Comic book storylines in general seem to be too ridiculous and they always get scaled down to something more reasonable when they're adapted.

Anyways, I want a new X-Men cartoon series. I generally don't like Marvel cartoons anywhere near as much as DC cartoons (DC actually gets these right unlike their live action movies...) but I have loved every X-Men cartoon series.

That's part of the appeal, so long as the writer is self aware when it comes to comic book tropes. You also have people like Geoff Johns who manage to write in that fan-servicy way, but at the same time write an overall good story under those constraints.

No new mutants allowed to be introduced (Fox instantly gains movie rights)

Existing mutants in comics are, by executive decision, being retconned into never having been mutants, so the limited X-Men pool they have is shrinking.

There have been no new Fantastic Four comics at all. As a matter of fact, even appearances of the Fantastic Four in other comics have been rare.

The comics guys are fighting back, of course.

tl;dr

Captain America was actually a Hydra agent and Hydra won the war.

Some people were not happy with this outcome for obvious reasons, so they used the cosmic cube to warp reality such that Hydra lost, and one of the effects ended up being that Captain America fought for the allies.

Some bullshit happened, and the warping became undone for just Captain America.

That's an old article. If you want more evidence, look at the Marvel roster for MVCI, and the announcement that Marvel Heroes is having all F4 content patched out retroactively.

Just so we're clear on what's happening, they are spending money to remove content from games just because they are related to the fantastic four

Fox having the film rights to X-Men and F4 also affects which characters Marvel can and cannot use in the MCU.

Not just the MCU either, it affects who they can use across *all* media. It's the reason F4 and X-Men were excluded from the most recent Marvel vs. Capcom, or why the F4 were purged from Marvel Heroes, with the ever-looming concern that Disney might very well tell them to remove the X-Men at any point.

It's one thing that they removed 5 heroes out of 63, but if they purged the X-Men (and other relating characters) they would have to remove *20* of the remaining 58. That would probably be a death knell for most of the player-base (I know I sure as hell would quit), surely it would be too foolish a move, but then people didn't think Disney would actually remove the F4, and not only did they axe them short-notice but Silver Surfer was added onto the list of causalities.

X-Who? It's all about The Inhumans!!!

Meh, don't care about the Inhumans, I honestly forgot they even existed until the TV show was announced and even then I can't name any of them.

The biggest "well fuck you too, Disney" though is that these people deny me Rogue yet insist on trying to shove Carol Danvers down my throat. Bitch can go get stuck in another coma for all I care.
