Out patient isn't bad at all. I went on 9/11 of last year and did two months after a four day in patient stay (the hospital forced me). I didn't want to be there and wouldn't participate, but when I left, I had made a pretty big difference in several people's recovery.

The worst part is the random, mandatory drug tests. I just can't go if somebody is watching. It won't be hard. I just kept my cool and throughout the two months, I made a bunch of friends (not the bad kind).

Damn... I'm surprised they're going to make you wait more than a month, since that's a pretty big window of opportunity to mess up. I met a lot of people who were in that situation and tried to clean up before getting there. Just don't give in to the "one last hoorah" feeling toward the end. That, depending what the substance is, can often be fatal (people whose tolerance was down to zero used something on the level they normally would).

It really is fucked up how they handle these clinics. Some people can buy their way in to fix their shopping addictions, while heroin addicts gamble their lives in a daily basis, waiting to be accepted.

Hope you have some sort of support around you to help keep you on the right track. My mom's a severe alcoholic and, before finding the will to stay on it herself, she fell off the wagon a ton of times because she only had herself to convince her otherwise.

Best of luck to you homie. Went in n out of hospitals due to overdoses about 7 years ago before trying a bunch of programs and cold turkeying it. (Sorta). My vice was H.

Good luck man. I had my problems in the past too, like lifted bottles from walmart because I couldn't afford them but needed them. Didn't go to rehab, but I moved away from my friends and lived with my grandparents for about a year cold sober. Spent my day working then helping them remodel their home so I was always productive and actually learned new skills and didn't wake up feeling like shit the next day.

It can be done.
