This isn't a thing.

And I can see why intermediate algebra wouldn't necessarily be useful to people outside STEM disciplines who otherwise have a grasp of everyday math.

It would probably help more if we actually did a good job teaching our students math. The US has the worst math scores compared to other countries and it's not surprise many tech companies want to bring in employees from other countries who have better math skills.

We also could really use less people graduating from colleges to reduce the amount of flooding with degrees in the US.

Why should you have to study math to get an education in a field where it's irrelevant? A lot of people have a hard time with math. This seems like backwards thinking being eliminated.

Statistics is a math that should be more widely taught in high school. Basic statistics would do a lot to help people getting fouled by articles citing stats to fit their agenda.

I thought people have been pushing for this as a form of college reform for a long time? This only applies to people whose majors are not math related.

Until this was actually implemented I always heard people bitching about schools making you take unnecessary courses to prolong your time their and make you pay more tuition.

The people complaining about that are complaining about STEM majors who have to take liberal arts classes. But either way no matter what degree you are going for in college you should have to take classes not directly related to your field as learning other things outside your focus will only help you.

I literally have the common core standards posted in my classroom. You people that blame common core literally don't have a clue what they are talking about.

Americans suck at Math because it has been stigmatized that way. We also have huge economic disparity and so many students don't value education the way other students do. I really think we are just shitty in math because are attitude towards it.

Since No Child Left Behind act states have been lowering the criteria required to pass standardize tests so they can keep getting funding. We've been putting our children to a lower standard and now they struggling to graduate college. This isn't a common core issue. This has been an issue growing in the US for a while now.

Fuck history. It's impossible for it to be objective. People literally write what they want you to think. I doubt history is even accurate all the time. Math and Science are the purest disciplines. You actually have to practice to get good. History you literally just sit there and listen.

Having attended a CSU I can tell you they don't force you to take "leftist propaganda" courses outside of Political Science, which is really based on the professor as in my experience I had one who'd worked for every Republican administration since Ford, and English requirements which should be expected of people who communicate primarily in English.

A buddy took Intro to Women's Studies bug that was one of like 20 options that included an anthropology through film course.

And the most common major far and away is a Psych major which really changes nothing since their career ceiling is "head burger flipper" anyways.
