Everyone talks about how good it is, but I didn't think it was that great. Also, Black/White had a better story anyway.

Black/White had a terrible story which was worse in every way to Sun/Moon's, not that I consider S/M's story all that great.

BW was garbo

SM was better in every

single

way

Just about the ONLY thing I liked in BW was Excadrill (sadly I didn't catch a Drilbur until *after* finishing the campaign). It has my second-least fave starters, wasn't thrilled with the map, it frontloads stupidity between the element-monkey gym and Captain N the Pokemon Master, etc.

The only thing BW had going for it was the story, and SM's story was better.

Sun and Moon was boring until you got to the third island.

Everyone talked way too much and I hated being stopped for a cutscene every 10 minutes or so.

Third island on and the UB post game content was great though

I hate to agree with Zeus about anything, but yeah, B/W story was awful. It was ambitious, and I can appreciate the attempt to try something new with the series, but...

The simple truth is that B/W tried to bill itself as a story with morally gray villains and it completely failed on that front. Ghetsis is irredeemably evil and so is his team, making them no different than any other evil team we've faced throughout the series. Plasma is just slightly better at manipulating public opinion than the others.

We get loads of scenes with no purpose other than to reassure us that Plasma is 100% evil. Remember Ghetsis cackling to himself about how he's got everyone fooled? Or the time that a random grunt is trying to "liberate" a little girl's beloved pet? Scenes like that exist to discredit Team Plasma as a whole because if the player believes Plasma has a point, then the player, who is opposing them by being a trainer, cannot be wholly good. Pokemon is a series that you're meant to feel good about playing, so Nintendo is never going to make the player question the morality of their own actions. That's why Team Plasma's evilness is exposed and emphasized the way it is, and why this kind of story was doomed to fail from the beginning. You cannot have morally gray villains and purely heroic protagonists at the same time.

I personally prefer Sun/Moon's story because I prefer a story that succeeds at what it sets out to do than a story that promises more than it can deliver. Sun/Moon tried to capture the feeling of a group of friends adventuring together (X/Y...sorta tried, sorta failed), as well as show Lillie's growth as a person as she gradually breaks free of her mother's influence. Since it focused on the characters more than anything else, it succeeded.

However, if you don't like character-driven stories much you probably won't be a fan of Sun/Moon. It is admittedly on the simple, but heart-warming, side.

The scene I remember most from B/W is when the gym leaders show up near the end to battle Team Plasma.

And that's the best story scene in Pokemon.

Hmm. I did not get fired up about Sun & Moon the way I did about B&W. Then again, X&Y did not do much for me, either, though I was thrilled to play ORAS (because I got into this series at RSE). There's just something special about the world in B&W that I can't quite put my finger on.

I couldn't disagree more tbh.

B/W's story was so much better than the story in Sun/Moon.
N had better character development than anyone in S/M imo.

I'll even take Team Plasma over Team Skull and the Aether Foundation too. <_<

Yeah, and to top it off, their grand scheme was to take over the world which makes them fairly cookie-cutter.

Team Skull is by far my favorite villainous Pokemon group. They even have the best leitmotif.

I also liked Team Skull. It was nice to once again have a team that just wanted to steal Pokemon and do what they want rather than cause another big bang or nuke the planet.

This sums up how I felt about it-- perfectly. I never play Pokemon games for the story, but I had no idea what was going on in Black/White
