Oh god! I try & pretend that game is just a bad dream, I don't have it, but I've seen enough YT videos to conclude that Bubsy 3D might legit be the worst game ever made, not even joking. You could probably use it as a form of torture by making someone play it!

these probably aren't the worst, but two games i purchased in recent memory that i really didn't like were mafia 3 and mass effect andromeda.

mafia 3 began pretty spectacularly, but it devolved quickly into "kill the same 3 types of guys with idiotic ai for 40 hours, never changing your approach"

mass effect wasn't necessarily awful, but it wasn't good. it was like the body of mass effect, but dead, empty and soulless inside. not bad, just super-disappointing to the point where i could not continue.

Of games I currently own, WarioWare: Snapped! I couldn't get the camera controls to work, and I got the impression that it would be a pain to do so even if I looked up online how to do it. That's the only unplayable game I have, so I have to call it the worst.

However, since I have plenty of free memory on the DS that I downloaded the game to, I have no reason to get rid of it.

Well the worst game I ever owned was apparently Shaq Fu, but I guess I was far too young to realize how bad it was. Probably the worst game in recent memory I've played but don't own is Godzilla (PS4). As a fan and because there's a severe lack of mass destruction games out there I still got some enjoyment from it, but it definitely was a semi-decent game at best. Which is like the first couple of stages or so since the gameplay is extremely repetitive.

As for currently own I'd have to give it to Final Fantasy 15. I was one of those that didn't expect much from it and only purchased it in the first place because I could get it for like $20, but when you regret spending that little on what's supposed to be $60 its definitely not a good feeling even if you had very low expectations to begin with.

Bionicle The Game for Gamecube is probably the worst game I have.
It was such a disappointing game and it was extremely short as well. Only a few measly levels which was fucking pathetic even for a game released at that time.

It stung extra hard as well back then because I was such a diehard fan of the series at that time.

Legendary: The Box, although I knew it was going to be bad going in thanks to the reviews. Prior to those reviews, the hype was one reason for buying a ps3.

Pretty sure the worst game in human history is ET for the Atari. Superman 64 was bad, but it was normal levels of bad and half the complaints tied into the character himself.

Damn video game elitists... Damnation had its problems, but it was still alright. Was honestly surprised to see how low critics rated it.

First game to come to my mind was StarFox Adventures which I hate to no end, though it does have a few redeeming qualities.

I don't really own too many terrible games.

I didn't care for it either, but I'm not sure that was necessarily bad.

I played it, I platinumed it, I enjoyed it. I recognize it had shortcomings but that rating is hyperbolic. I know I've certainly played far worse games with far better ratings, so elitism is occurring.

Black (video game). Seriously though, the controls were extremely horrible, PS2 could never get that Halo 1, Halo 2 effect. So I switched over to PC gaming and played Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, and then Bad Company 2.

I enjoy playing bad games on emulators, but as for actually owned?

Some I don't even have anymore, but Warriors of Might and Magic for the GBC is up there.
The only good thing is the music. Literally everything else sucks and it didn't even have a proper ending for the sheer hell it puts you through

The graphics are tiny, the combat is atrocious, and if you die(and you will see "You have fallen to your death!" a LOT) you have to do the entire stage over again.

The first thing to come to my mind is LA Noire. I gave it several hours and it was just boring. Normally I can slog through, but that game had nothing enjoyable.

With all due respect, we're talking about an industry where a 6/10 is considered a bad game and 7/10 is the accepted average. In almost every other thing, a 1-10 scale considers 5 to be the average. Therefore game reviews and reviewers are more elitist by nature.

As for your alleged majority, the rating is based on a smaller sampling. There are only 36 critic reviews -- which curiously does NOT include a lot of the major publications that usually weigh in -- and 43 user reviews. Honestly, the input is so low that it could be easily skewed by a handful of positive reviews today if I was so inclined to sing its praises and encourage others to do likewise.

As for objectivity in matters of opinions, I simply have to respond with a hearty LOL! Granted, that's not to say that there sometimes isn't grounds to call something objectively bad, such as when it's chock full of game-breaking glitches and design oversights (ET's pit, for example) but that's not the case here.

I don't disagree with your assessment that reviews on a 10-point scale are skewed toward making 7/10 "average", but even taking that into consideration the game averages a 3.5/10 critically, 3/10 for users. If you were to use 5/10 as your average, Damnation scores below. 7/10 as average makes 3-3.5/10 abysmal by comparison.

It has less of a sampling because it's a smaller title, not some big budget AAA game. Not exactly rocket science to figure that out.

As for no major publications... IGN, Game Informer, Edge, Gamespot, Cheat Code Central, SixthAxis, Eurogamer, Play Magazine, PlayStation Official Magazine... bear in mind this game is more than a few years old. Some of the major sites of today were fledgling or nonexistent at the time Damnation released. And some of those that are listed are no longer in business today. Don't know what source or sources you're looking for, but to say the game was overlooked by mainstream reviewers is patently false. It was widely reviewed, and (spoiler alert!) widely panned!

Which leads me to your final point: a lack of objectivity? Maybe you need to look over some of those reviews and scores again. Seems you understand objectivity about as well as you understand elitism.

^ Reminds me of Advanced guardian heroes on GBA. I absolutely love the game, its brilliant, & I feel it is 1 of the best GBA... Heck, 1 of the best 2D games ever made. But it got low scores on almost every review & nobody else besides me seems to like it...

Legendary was a solid game. Got it for like $3 in the bargain bin at GameStop and was pleasantly surprised. Not a great game, but fun just the same.
