Would you let your kids play violent games?

She says he shouldn't be them but I don't really care. I just tell him to turn it off whenever she's around so I don't hear her bitch at me. Kid is 13. He's a great kid, earns fantastic grades and extremely mature. I let him decide what to play. I believed he has the maturity.

My daughter is only 14 months old but I won't make her leave the room if I'm playing a violent game when she's older and I'll allow her to play as well. Just ingrain into her that it's fantasy and not something we can do in real life.

My kid can already discern between reality and fantasy. But my girlfriend won't believe it. She's seriously starting to become one of those moral guardians and I'm actually getting pretty concerned here.

I'd argue the sex scenes and the torture scene might be a bit much, if its gta5, but otherwise its mindless violence.

Games like TLoU with strong narratives can affect more deeply than that. I'd agree with you TC.

Of course in terms of the games overall I'd vote TLoU> GTA5.

My son turned 4 near the end of June and he's already been collecting "Blood Echoes" for well over 6 months and has been a "solid" "Bastion" for even longer. At times when we are outside I'll have to be "Winston" while he is "Bastion," and we kill the bad guys that are coming(Usually 'stormtroopers.") Other times he just runs around like a maniac or he plays surprisingly well with his sister.

This. Fuck what she thinks. It's basically a "me or your son" situation. Kick that skank to the curb if she doesn't like it

I'll agree that some kids can't quite handle some mature themes but if your kid seems to be okay and knows it's just game, your "girlfriend" has no say really.

Does she have a problem with all violent games like Skyrim or is it simply "realistic" games like GTA?

I'd probably be more comfortable with a young teen playing TLOU tbh. Unless they get scared easy.

The violence in GTAV just seems a bit more real I guess?

damn, your son's a beast

He's been playing since before his hands were even big enough to move the character and hit the strike button. He would have to readjust his hands to use his sword and then readjust to move Dante to the next area. He eventually got it figured out to a way that worked for him.

ecPGtnT

He was just over 2 here I think, maybe close to 2.5. See how he has his hands so he can strike?

lol Nice. My nephew is 6 and he cannot play games at all. I've tried to teach him but he's just not coordinated with games. I've been trying with easy stuff like Sonic and Mario. He can do some Mario levels but for the most part, he can't really handle a lot of enemies or solve much of the Captain Toad levels.

If a 13 year old can't discern between fantasy and reality you have bigger problems.

And your GF should mind her own business and shut up. Sounds like some sort of power grab. It starts small.

I see no problem with letting your children play violent games. Just as long as you don't give the child the game and put no effort into parenting. Although there should be some kind of filter as some violent games might have other kinds of things that you might think are acceptable yet.

For me what I'm thinking is when I have kids.

Storyline low violence is fine. Random reckless violence for no reason isn't okay.

But that's largely because I get a bit upset by random violence or needless assaults. Like a character killing someone is fine, but GTA or Protoype just running around killing people eeehhh I don't like that. Makes me feel weird and I wouldn't support my kid playing that stuff until maybe 16? Seems fair?
