Title says it all. I've read the books and refuse to watch the show until the books are through. I think a significant number of folks are in the same boat.

I read the books, and I'd absolutely say that 90% of the people who give even the remotest of shits about the franchise these days all came in via the TV show. It was popular as a book series, yes. But there's popular, and then there's POPULAR. ASoIaF isn't a LotR situation, where the books were a cultural touchstone and ridiculously famous and popular even before other media started doing adaptations.
