okay so i never tried pretending i didn't care, probably because i do care.

i don't know what's going to happen to linkin park now, and that bothers me. i know i trash them a lot, but there was always hope they could do a hybrid theory again.

now there's no hope for that.

Isn't it strange that some folk don't give a shit about someone but when they die they suddenly care very much?

When other people die, it has a tendency to make us think about our own mortality, and thus, empathize more with the dead person because we see ourselves in them.

Plus the idea of "WOMG DON'T SPEAK ILL OF THE DEAD!" is so damned ingrained in our culture, a lot of people just immediately start falling over themselves to say something nice about the dead person so they feel like they fulfilled their part of the social contract in some way.

Why would they need to do that though? Depending on how they word it, it seems like it would just be making an approval rating out of his life or something. Like if they made a poll about Donald Trump (though I wouldn't be surprised if they did already), but the difference is that he is deceased now so I think it would be kind of insensitive
