Do you think the Doctor should be a forever white male?

Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker has been cast as the new Doctor Who and the 13th Time Lord has DIVIDED FANS as many have called this "political correctness" while others applaud the decision to finally make a change!!

While many are praising the writers for choosing a female, others said this has GONE MAD as Twitter User David Stephens said "Sorry, this is so called equality, women's rights, political correctness gone Mad-Dr Who was written/created as a man! End of"

Clive Walton also agreed and said "No the character is a man not a woman! As usual the BBC have to muddy the waters through political correctness that's what they do"

Tony Moretta has also wrote "Well you're one viewer down already"

The Decision however has won the praise of former doctors who played the role, including the 6th Doctor, Colin Baker who said "Well i never, the BBC really did do the right thing and let the Doctor be in touch with her feminisde side. As a father of daughters - result!"

Not surprisingly the ones outraged are males while the ones praising are females, including Georgina Hewitson who said "I must say i'm pleased we might get a generation of little girls running around with sonic screwdrivers and lightsabers"

Jenny Trout from Michigan filmed her daughter intensely watching the reveal and her face is lit up when a woman was revealed and said "The new Doctor is a girl!"

New head writer Chris Chibnall who takes over Steve Moffatt made the decision to cast the first woman as he always knew that the 13th doctor would be a woman as Jodie's audition, whom he worked with on Broadchurch, blew him away with her funny and inspiring wit.

She beat out 2 other actors, including her former co-star Olivia Coleman and one man, Kris Marshall who were also the favourites to be the new doctor.

All of the previous doctors have been white males and there have been rumours that he could have been a black man, played by Idris Elba.

Many of the longtime male fans have been critical of this decision and are outraged over the changing of genders..but time will tell if the new doctor can change their minds as her partner will be revealed soon as well.

Peter Capaldi, the current doctor will make his last appearance this Christmas as Jodie will make her first appearance then.

Do you think the Doctor who should be a Forever White Male? let's see what people think.

I'm surprised they went with white lady before black guy, but I think we all knew more diversity was coming to the character. It's perfectly within canon for this to happen, and I think it might allow for some fresh stories anyway.

EDIT: Also, I've got to say, the woman they chose totally looks the part of the Doctor from every picture I've been seeing.

I think it will help to expand the audience of the show by having more female viewers. I seriously doubt that most fans of the show will stop watching altogether because of the gender change. It's just the loud people getting all the attention right now. I wasn't too keen on an old man playing the role of the Doctor, but he impressed me. I think she looks the part. Their judgement as far as picking a Doctor hasn't let me down yet.

Because Muslim isn't a race, it means s/he can be Muslim and black. Duh. And s/he'd have to be Muslim because otherwise it'd be Islamophobic. Can't offend even one person! (Well, other than whites who don't count because SJWs don't see whites as people.)

I think you have the same mindset of the clueless executives who think the only way to appeal to women is by casting women, otherwise called pandering. Given that moves like this are born of desperation, the show may not have longer left.

Missy is the Master regenerated as a female. The Doctor has also made comments upon past regenerations that he's glad to have teeth and a tongue. Clearly regeneration can do some wild things with a Time Lord's body, and we've already seen an example of gender changing.

Well she's attractive and can act so that's pretty much all I'm concerned about. I don't actually think it was specified anywhere that it had to be a white male so if it's canon, no big deal.
If anything, she's a far better choice than Kris marshall and Olivia coleman is wrong for a more modern/mature doc so if that was the 3 top choices, I think the picked the right one.
I don;t get all the butthurt, it's only for a year or so on average and I don't get saying it's going to be terrible straight off-you don;t actually know until she's actually done a few eps lol

Way back during the Fourth Doctor's run, his companion Romana was also a Time Lord. She "tried out" several bodies before settling on her second incarnation. One of the bodies she tried out was a blue humanoid. So yeah, regeneration conceivably doesn't even have to result in a human/Galifreyan body. Next to that, gender seems a rather minor detail.

Also consider how the Doctor got more regeneration's, they were given to the 11/12th by River Song, a FEMALE time lord, so it makes sense that Rivers regenerations could change the Doctor into a woman.

That and the Doctor being able to regenerate into a woman has been cannon since the days of William Hartell, as confirmed by the writer himself.

This is pretty much what my wife said to me. She's been a Doctor Who fan since Chris Eccleston was the doctor, and she tells me the show has been getting worse and worse since shortly before the current guy took over. According to her, this is the final nail in the coffin. I'm not really a fan of the show, but I've watched some episodes with her.

I get it. I wouldn't like if the makers of something I really liked made a drastic change to a character just for political reasons. It shows that either they're all out of good ideas, or they're just trying to do it to pander to some group.
