Not a huge feat to be better than Frozen. I mean, I haven't seen Tangled, but wow Frozen was bad. Nowhere near the level Disney used to be about.

Tangled is my favorite Disney movie.

Frozen was alright. I think I would have been surprised at the reputation it received had I seen the movie in advance of the hype. It's kind of like The Little Mermaid, but without a good villain.


Then again, I'm obviously not the target audience.

It's like if the writers of The Lion King felt that Scar should be a sympathetic character and decided to make Zazu the villain instead.

It's not as good as The Lion King. It's more like The Little Mermaid without a good villain.

There's a scene where he valiantly defeats a snow giant in single combat. Granted, that comes at a time when the movie wants us to think that he's a hero, but it's rare to see a bad guy win a clean fight like that -- especially against a larger and stronger adversary.

Hey, I'm not defending it. It's the weakest part of the movie. Going back to what I said in my earlier post, Lion King would've still been good had they made Scar a good guy and Zazu the bad guy. But it wouldn't have been as good.

Should Frozen have made Elsa the villain? She does so well as a hero that I'm inclined to say no. That Halloween, I think there were more girls dressed up like Elsa than any other character. But they definitely left behind a gap to be filled and I don't think that guy was up to the challenge.

The hans twist retroactively makes the rest of the movie bad. It was fine up until then but then completely destroys everything they were building to and makes it un-rewatchable.

What people need to understand is that Frozen went through many re-writes and was released unfinished. It had been in development for what, 40, 50 years? And it only has very small traces of the Snow Queen story it was initially going to be based on. And the movie clearly shows how sloppy the re-writes are.

This is true, but what he said is also true in that the typical extreme contrarians who hate Frozen just because it's popular are so deafening that no one can hear the legitimate criticisms that reveal the true problems of the movie that hold it back. And it is a fun movie, up until that ending that's so rushed I actually blurted out "wait what" in the theaters.

One of those things where the movie was okay, but it was driven into the ground and people who liked it got tired of hearing about it, for more than a year, from people who loved it and touted it as the best Disney movie.

It's like Justin Bieber, even if you didn't hate him or his music at some point you just got tired of hearing about him and wanted him to disappear so you never had to hear about him again.

It's a great movie, but it got popular enough that a lot of people got tired of it and started to hate it. Nowadays people can't bring up another Disney movie without adding "and it's SO much better than Frozen"

You just KNOW that if it hadnt sold over a billion dollars of tickets and had a large merchandising presence, people wouldn't be trashing it every time a Disney movie is brought up.
