So I looked at the info released about the revised Trump plan, and it looks like it's been watered down to the extent that it gets rid of pretty much all of what was good about the original plan during the campaign, which was the 0% tax bracket for income up to $25,000 single/ $50,000 married. Combined with the standard deduction expansion that had been proposed, it would have eliminated federal income tax entirely for an individual making under 40k.

That would be a savings of around $4,000 a year for our hypothetical person making 40k......but there's no more talk about the 0% tax bracket now. Without it, the new plan looks pretty similar to current taxes, and we're talking about savings of a few hundreds instead of thousands of dollars. With families with children potentially having tax increases due to elimination of some provisions favorable to them.

I want to point out that legally, this actually puts you on dicey footing in civil court.

If you have a sword next to your door for the purpose of attacking someone who barges in and they turn out to be not dangerous or if you injure them and you dont have renters insurance that coveres personal liability you can be in some deep shit.

A baseball bat is a little bit better, but you better store it with some gloves and balls and just be able to argue that next to the door i just where you keep it.

They're not at my door, they are hanging on my wall or on display stands around my house. I have several pocket knives, which I wouldn't use, and a K-Bar in my bedroom, which is where I would likely be in the event of a break-in, since that is where I spend most of my time.

This I fully agree with; the dog isn't the problem, it's the owners. A well treated and trained pitbull is one of the best dogs you can own; loyal to a fault and you basically won't find a more loving breed.
