I mean, he has to be at least partially responsible for the casting, right? So clearly he's doing SOMETHING right.

I think Favreau is fantastic at casting but his directorial work needs improvement.

So, I don't understand this movie. I assume this is part of the whole live-action remakes of classic Disney animation like Beauty and the Beast. But it's not ACTUALLY live action because the characters aren't human so they're just doing voices. So is this just a 3D animation remake of the 2D animation original? And if so, what's the point, because it's still animated. I just don't get what they're doing here.

Taking advantage of your nostalgia to make a quick buck because they are fresh out of ideas.

They're not fresh out of ideas, they just misplaced the book with the new ideas and they're trying to cover for it.

I wouldn't say they're out of ideas, but there's a clear market for this stuff and they make good money.

I mean, I'm definitely going to see it. So I guess I'm part of the problem? The 94 Lion King is maybe my favourite movie ever and this has a better cast. It won't be as good, or at least as enjoyable to me personally, but I love the story and characters.

The BatB remake is one of the highest grossing movies ever. There's not much point to these remakes creatively buy they aren't stopping anytime soon. I think most of the big 90s movies are already confirmed.

I don't remotely see "they are out of ideas". Any real thoughts about why that is true, and really more so an emphasis on why you think Disney would make these movies as a result of "being out of ideas"? doesn't really make sense to me.

Being 'out of new ideas' is a bit of hyperbole, but it seems to me the company policy is doubling down on extremely low-risk, low-innovation projects on existing IP, which is kind of depressing.

Did you forget they already did The Jungle Book? This will be the same as that, only now there's zero humans instead of one.
