New Game is a fun enough show that I'll probably re-watch it dubbed in the future, but not until a couple months after the original subbed version is finished. I've always preferred dubs, and the VA's they got aren't the most well-known, but they have some good roles behind them. The VA's for Hifumi and Rin were the only ones that had no notable roles that I could recognize, but the others have a good history.

One or two changes lines like that don't ruin an entire show. I think you guys are severely exaggerating what they did to Dragon Maid. The dubbed version of the show itself turned out just fine, and those couple line changes didn't make me enjoy the show any less than I would have otherwise.

It might not ruin the whole thing but it certainly is off-putting when they do stuff like that, and for the record, it could be sjw nonsense, it could be memes, it could be whatever, but if i've seen the original and then realize they did whatever the hell they wanted for the dub, it would bother me regardless.

Like i always use this as an example for a good dub, D-Frag was amazing both sub and dub, they used "different" jokes for the dub but they all fit the context perfectly so it wasn't jarring to go from the sub to the dub, hell, i kinda enjoyed the dub more because of how hilarious the VA's did it.

I avoid Funimation dubs simply because I got tired of hearing their voice actors over and over. Funimation pumps out so much stuff, that there is just way too much overlap with their voice actors. And you get a lot of repeat voices in everything, it happens, it's just that it's especially bad with Funimation.

D-Frag was one of the best quality dubs I've ever watched, both in the voice quality and the translation of the jokes. I actually watched this show subbed before the dub came out, and I enjoyed the dub so much. In particular, Kenji Kazama's English VA (Austin Tindle) was so great in that role. He also played Souji in Gonna Be The Twin-Tail and Seiji in Love Tyrant, who were pretty much the same kind of character: the overreacting straight man in contrast to the insane humor of the girls around him. It seems to be a role that he really shines at. EDIT: What the shit, this guy also voiced Accelerator? Wow, I didn't expect that...

The opening changed for one episode, episode 10 I think, then it changed back to the normal opening for some reason. I like both of them though. As I figured before I even went into the show, Becky a best. But the twins, Sailor Venus, Medea, and Rei are all close.

I'm the same way. I generally prefer dubs and am even fine with waiting for a show to be dubbed, but for shows that will never be dubbed (like Nichijou) or shows whose dubs will never be finished (like Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha) I'm perfectly okay with watching it subbed.

ehh. normally im all-in on dubs, but funi really fucked up with maidragon. they made Kobayashi straight in the first episode, which makes Tohru a creepy predatory lesbian that wont stop hitting on an unwilling straight girl.

The first 6 episodes of New Game's English dub are up on Funimation's site now if you guys want to check it out. I'm holding off on it until the subbed series ends. And to the people we were worried and bitching about New Game's dub possibly throwing in some "political agenda" stuff like Dragon Maid: It won't. The very fact that there's been enough bitching online that the ADR director felt the need to address this "issue" at all is ridiculous to me, but now it's been addressed.
