Holy hell are you guys ruthless. You all make it sound like this guy was a terrorist out for blood. No, I'm not saying he should limp away scott free, but this was an accident not a planned murder plot.

You act like the man slipped on ice and accidentally bumped someone. He, due to his own stupidity, cost two people their lives and ruined the lives of at least a handful of people. I don't care if it was intentional or not, this entire scenario was preventable, so there's no fucking excuse for someone causing so much physical, financial, and emotional damage just because he was being a dumbass. A situation like this is damn close to murder in my book.

I got a DUI when I was 23. I didn't make it onto any roads, having backed into a parked car with no one in it in the parking lot. If, however, I had gotten onto the road and ended up killing someone, I believe I should have gotten either the death penalty or life in prison.

Driving drunk is fucking stupid, and this guy deserves whatever he gets. Hopefully life so he'll have to live with what he did.

Again, still no excuse whatsoever. Especially when this isn't even the first time he drove while intoxicated.

If anything, doing this while blackout makes him more of a dumbass, but based on the story I highly doubt he was blackout to begin with, so that excuse falls flat anyway.

If this is his second DUI not only is he a fucking dick bag but a fucking asshole who does not give a shit about driving while drunk and has now killed a mother and her unborn child.

I can say that the husband of the woman will want him dead after he learns this is his second DUI. If it was his first DUI I could have some sympathy but this is the second time showing he didn't learn anything after the first time.

Yeah it is true. Sober people tend to brace/tense up when they know an accident is about to happen. Causing the shock from the accident to be absorbed.
Drunk people tend to be soft so the shock passes through them so less injury.

Drink? Yes. Drive? No.

I just recognize that too many people do this and these accidents are just waiting to happen because far too many people too irresponsible with alcohol.

I'm starting to think CE's attitude toward crime is a meme I just don't get, honestly.

I wouldn't say it's a meme. People in general become overemotional when it comes to cases like this. Especially anything that involves a child being harmed. Probably plenty of people in real life hoping he'll be put to death or maimed just like people in here are suggesting.

Drunk driving is a very tricky subject to deal punishment with. On the one hand he likely heavily regrets what he did, but then then he also killed two people and took a child's family away from them.

But on legal grounds, he is likely royally screwed and will probably spend a few years in jail. The person who screwed the most. Is the little kid who lost his mother and sibling.

I hate drunk drivers, I had one hit and run my mom, when I was younger. The fact that he has two DUIs means he's fucked. He might be serving a significant amount of time, if he doesn't take a plea deal. He's not gonna win a trial by jury, especially with the racial makeup of the victims. But I'm not gonna lose any sleep that a dumbass and piece of crap is going to jail. Good riddance next time, he'll value life when he gets out of jail

depends on the judge, depends on the state. could be a 5 or the judge could throw the fuckin book at him and give him 15+.

seeing that he had weed, depends on how your state looks at that too.

also, he needs a really fuckin good lawyer. not sympathizing with him, i mean it is 100% on him that people are dead, but if he hopes to not be in jail for the rest of his life, he's gonna have to have good credit with a good lawyer. he's likely gonna be in debt the rest of his life but he made that choice.
