It doesn't mention it here, but I found out that it's first name, then last name with a quick search.

Not gonna use the manga name because that's technically not canon.

Plus, I like seeing people attach honorifics to my clearly Irish last name.

Oh, it asks you to confirm "Given name" and "Family name" when you start typing them in. There we go.

Well, Jeff Zero ended up having to leave sooner than we originally thought, and we knew there was no way we'd get anywhere close to finishing it, so we'll wait until he gets back.

It's up to them, really. I don't tell people not to do it or anything, and I usually don't even bring it up unless someone asks. Some people will try to refrain on their own when they're around me once they learn more about who I am and what I do, but some people will just keep talking normally. I don't get actively offended by it to the point that I can't stand to hear it at all or anything because I've been around it all my life anyway. I just don't care for it. Like, it's not the first strike against something because I play plenty of games that have swearing in them. It's pretty much impossible to avoid in any medium unless you just stick to kids' stuff. But it'll be the last straw that'll get me to stop if I don't find something else to latch onto, if that makes sense.

Main impression so far is that the presentation is undeniably impeccable. I can forgive a lot of transgressions for the sake of a good atmosphere and good presentation, so that's a big thing in P5's favor.

I feel like swearing often gets taken too far. I swear when I'm frustrated/pissed off, otherwise, i feel restrained to not swear too much. The f-bombs every other utterance is super unpleasant to listen to.

I'm also confused when you have a song like "All About That Bass" that's supposed to send a positive message and be young people-friendly, but she swears in the song and it's like what a contradiction.

All right, didn't get too far into Persona 5 yet. Dunno if any of this really qualifies as "spoilers" since it happens in the first hour or so of the game, but I'll play it safe. Just up to the save point the game offers you after you enter the castle thing at the school. Just don't turn into a really tall tower and we'll be fine! We run into Vulgar Boy (not quite up to the level of Rude Hero) and Ann (not pronounced the English way) rapid fire one right after the other. Jeff Zero is aghast that I'm using my real name, but we have an "Ann" here and "Ami" isn't that uncommon to see either. I guess you'd just have to pronounce my first name differently! My last name would probably be incomprehensible in Japanese though!

MC seems pretty solid so far. Sojiro has quite the fashion sense, and it's interesting to see him being so dismissive of the MC. It's definitely a change of pace from Narukami. In fact, he feels like a deliberate turn in the other direction in a lot of ways. Narukami was a big city kid going to live in the country, while the MC here is a country boy going to live in the big city.

It's also interesting that we're starting en media res here, and the MC gets captured because someone sold him out. Should be neat once we get this far into the story, however long it takes. Looks like it's going to be another different approach from P4 in regard to the party's actions as viewed by the police. The P4 crew was able to keep all their Persona activities secret, while the police here seem to know all about what the P5 guys are doing, down to stealing people's hearts.

Man, I don't know if I can get used to this new Igor voice. It's just so different. I guess I will eventually. Hopefully the twin attendants will get better because they already feel way inferior to Margaret and especially Elizabeth based on first impressions.

They're very whatever, those attendants. At least up through the second dungeon, at least to me. The character design there is handily the worst too. Based Marie, Elizabeth, and Margaret are definitely better-designed.

They're definitely the weakest attendants yet, but I still liked them. Part of that was probably the Japanese voices, which were fantastic; what little I heard of their English voices didn't seem as good, though emphasis on "little."

Margaret gets some new stuff in Golden and has some content in the spinoffs, too. Not quite to the level of Elizabeth's dates getting added to FES, mind you, but very little is on that level. If I could count those dates as an S. Link, it'd be a very strong contender for the best one.

All right, that's all for Persona 5 for tonight. Finished my first two ventures into Pervert Castle or whatever it's called. Doesn't feel like the way this thing shows up is too dissimilar to how it worked in Persona 4, other than the fact that it seems to overlap with real world locations and I'm guessing we'll be chasing down bad guys instead of potential party members this time, too.

This battle interface is super sleek, especially the post-battle stuff. It's also weird that I'm fighting against enemies that look like Personas from previous games, as well as the fact that they actually talk during battle. I'm guessing there's a reason behind that, but I'll find out later, I suppose.

Got my first Confidant in Ryuji! Huh, he's the Chariot Arcana like Chie. I kinda figured he'd be the Magician like Junpei and Yosuke, but then he suggests we go eat some MEAT and I see the connection. His portrait in the menu looks so much cooler than how he actually looks, but I think it's probably because his hair doesn't look bleached blond. I kept wondering why he seemed to have such a deep hatred for the Burger King guy, but after we got the full story in the castle, it makes a lot more sense. Ryuji seems really earnest and sincere, too. I was kinda skeptical of this guy just based on what I'd seen of him beforehand, but he seems cool enough so far. Well, he could stand to be a little less of a Vulgar Boy, but yeah.

So Morgana is a human who lost...his true form? People seem to be addressing Morgana as male despite the feminine name and voice. He also starts ogling the imaginary Ann when she shows up, so it makes sense, I guess. It's also kind of weird that Morgana is voiced by Cassandra Morris, who is the voice of Taiga in Toradora, whose lead male is named Ryuji, so I hear Taiga every time she says his name here.

I also like the cuts back and forth between the story and the interrogation. Pretty neat storytelling mechanic here.

This is basically just the system that other Shin Megami Tensei games have. This is our first time seeing it in Persona though (first time since 2 anyway).
