Mary Jane Watson has been the love interest for Peter Parker for more than half a century but this time it's different again as now it's played by newcomer 27 y/o Laura Harrier who will portray Liz Allan, a character in the comics who's been peter's love interest and supporting character in the spiderman comics. She will be swooning after the 21 y/o Actor as the movie opens on July 7th

Although she's been seen as a blonde in the comics, she's african-american in this version portraying a more diverse cast as his best friend is played by an asian character, Jacob Batalon and Zendaya who plays another friend of his.

Many presumed Zendaya was the love interest or even the new Mary Jane but those rumours were debunked after it was revealed that Laura was indeed the love interest..

The first reactions are already out as many of the fans hailed it the BEST SPIDERMAN MOVIE since Spiderman 2 as it's a worthy reboot for the Sony/Marvel production and directed by Cop Car director Jon Watts

I don't find her attractive and it's still weird because Liz is white in the comics (and she's Spidey's original love interest in the comics), white in the cartoons, etc. I guess it's still better than race-swapping MJ or Gwen Stacy on the off-chance that it might attract an additional small number of black movie-goers, but it's still weird.
