This is an epic failure in government we have not seen in our lifetimes a POTUS who is so inept, lazy, and hated that he can't even get legislation passed with a majority of Congress. It's easier to blame it on "obstruction!" other than the three traits I have listed.

Well republicans lost the cultural battle a long time ago. Liberals have the entire entertainment industry while conservatives have farms.

They've been completely destroyed on abortion rights and gay marriage too.

They also seem to cheer when big businesses get tax breaks and the benefits fail to trickle down.

Hating the liberals is about all they've got.

sadly, yes.

News reports of people getting harassed because they spoke a certain language or looked a certain way are much more common now. Hate groups are at peak level activity, and then we have "not racist" (but totally racist) groups such as the redhats who passive-aggressively stoke tensions.

CE itself is a good example, some users who were clearly racist in the past but tried to hide it (e.g. addy) are now fully out of the race closet, so to speak, and even moderators are being more cynical in accepting the fact they won't moderate hate speech if it is against certain groups they don't like.

It's all getting very ugly, it worries me.
