Do you think the United States has a Gun Problem?

19 CHILDREN in the United States are killed or injured a DAY as boys, teens and blacks are most at risk according to a government study that paints a bleak portrait of the persistent violence.

Nearly 1300 children in the US die in shootings every year and another 5790 survive gunshot wounds from handguns, rifles and shotguns.

This makes it the 3rd leading cause of death for children aged 1-17 years old

While it confirms previously released information, it underscores why researchers view gun violence as a public health crisis..

It was compiled by analyzing death certificates and ER room visits.

Unintentional shooting deaths may be significantly under reported as well.

The first 6 months of 2016 found that minors died from accidental shootings at their own hands or the hands of other children or adults or at the hands of other children or adults at a pace of one every other day.

Congress has prohibited the CDC from using federal money to advocate or promote gun control as CDC Spokeswoman Courtney Lenard said the congressional directive "does not prohibit CDC from conducing public health research into gun violence and the agency continues to do so"

The accompany editorial says it's reasonable and wise for doctors to talk about firearms safety with parents, especially with those who keep guns at home

Do you think the United States has a Gun Problem? let's see what people will vote

Given that the number includes suicides, it doesn't mean much. After all, getting rid of guns doesn't stop suicides. Hell, it wouldn't even stop most murders.

Some cultures are toxic. That doesn't mean everyone abides by the negative aspects, or are bad people, but obviously a developed nation that is seen externally as a bunch of gun nuts who don't want to help the poor or sick in their own country is indicative that there are societal woes that need to be fixed for the symptoms to subside. Switzerland is jam-packed with guns, but their murder rate (per capita) is basically nothing by comparison.

Amusingly, the number matches police killings.

Guns aren't the problem; people who obsess over guns are. This is why we need measures to keep firearms out of the possession of people who can't handle them responsibly and revoke the rights of people who use them recklessly.

Could always just require military service to be able to own a gun.
Alternatively a forced psychiatric exam before you can get a license.

I feel like though this will only ever start to be solved when guns can use AI to figure out your intentions and fire or not based on them.

Should we require military service or a forced psychiatric exam to vote? Or protest? Or not to have our homes/possessions searched without consent or warrant?

lolwut? That's probably why our media is drenched with sex, because we want to scare people. It's also probably why we have one of the most permissive pornography laws in the developed world, far ahead of countries like Canada, Germany, etc.

Might as well outlaw bridges, trains, and rope then because they're all easy and readily available.

Trump is your president.
So I'd say yes, assuming it would have helped.
