I mean, look around at the difference between how cats and dogs are portrayed in the media. Dogs often get portrayed as heroes, loyal companions, and are frequently the stars of their own movies. Yet when was the last time you saw a movie starring a cat that wasn't a lion? Oliver & Co? The Aristocats? Whenever a cat gets shown they're usually considered evil and to be things like the pets of witches or the big bad or, at BEST, they're the third 'hero' after the dog and their fellow dog companion/love interest/human friend. Cat owners tend to get portrayed as crazy cat ladies while dog owners get shown to be 'normal' and even expected as 'every boy has to have a dog' or something similar. Want to take your cat outside for a walk? People give you weird stares. It's like they're more used to seeing vicious attack dogs than a feline peacefully walking beside you. Is there a wild animal about that eats small animals? It's a danger to cats but almost NEVER to small dogs! If it's anything short of a wolf attack it's like your dog is perfectly safe.

Seriously, own a dog and you're basically seen as a hero. Own a cat and you can be dismissed as crazy. It's annoying how privileged dog owners are in comparison to cat owners.
