You know.. just looking up the rules a bit ago, we need to make sure screwups like Squall vs Neclord don't happen again... I bet you are thinking, what screwed up in that fight? It was squall vs neclord in peace. True... but there's this.

Assist - A merc that fights alongside the merc they're assisting. Assists do not count towards the roster cap and will accompany their assisting merc in side topics and in-battle repositioning, however they are not considered "hit" by such abilities. Assists default to 0/week mercenaries for ability purposes if not otherwise specified. If an assist has an assist, they will also be considered to be assisting the assisted merc (assist soup).

It should have been squall vs neclord+Damus which heavily changes that fight there.

I spent a while figuring this out this morning and I think I got it.

"Threats, promises and good intentions don't amount to action." (Pre-Battle - Attacker only) - Every week, before deferring you can privately confer trigger activation on one of your off-cooldown abilities, as well as an enemy ability that will proc the trigger. If the enemy leader declares that ability during their phase, it will automatically freeze to allow the triggered ability to go off in response, before resuming as normal.

DC used Alice's Threats to make Ellie's Session Skills proc Hearthstone.

But Ellie is linked to Phoenix:

The defense is ready! (Passive) - Phoenix's attached mercenary has a 50% chance of nullifying any Triggers activated by their abilities, and any of Phoenix's attached mercenary's Triggers that have a chance to activate will now have a 30% bonus to their activation chance.

(my new favorite disgustingly broken combo btw)

Which nulled Threats. I don't think that actually made Session Skills go off, it just hit its activation chance and the rest is flavor.

Some oddity to do with what the unstated recharge of a Trigger actually is and how Alice can make abilities on recharge go off again (for plus .5 of the usual charge rounded down...which on a Daily ability actually ends up being 0. 'lol')

I'm just waiting to hear on if it cancels the Harth KO too since it's all the same Trigger, dunno if Phoenix nulls the whole thing out

if you don't mind, i'd like to wait until the end of the week to officially commit to the RNG madness since I need to confer with the board of Neclord, Inc. to be sure we want to keep Oak past the redraft and have him on recharge during the first round of the playoffs

that is pretty solid, if I had seen that and was reasonably sure you weren't buying down anybody further I probably would have paid down Sigma and then pulled Squall with Scorpion

edit: the seph buydown was largely done out of fear you'd bring down the big bad Agents and I'd just be like welp
