Game falls off hard after the 2nd dungeon. Picks up again during the 6th and 7th and falls off even harder for the ending.

I loved it until the last 10 hours, then it really dragged forever. Plus some of the pacing is bad and the characters overall are just ehhh. But otherwise everything about it is great >_>

Great game. It could have capitalized on some of its moments way better, though. And the school trips were garbaggio.

first two palaces were 10/10 and i no lifed the game for like 30 hours but then it got boring and tedious and slow after that. kind of started to lose the charm of the group and get into a very drawn out game with too many (IMO) pointless sections. i got bored during the 5th palace and havent played in a while, although i do want to finish the game at some point.

Good game. Runs for far too long and the cast is pretty weak tbh. The highest point of the game is about 15-20 hours in and then it just declines from there. Gameplay is the absolute best it's been in the series though.

seriously, the worst character in a persona game since persona 3's ken amada, morgana was a detriment to the game as a whole

It was my first Persona game and I really enjoyed it. There's a bit of a weak point in the main story later in the game and the way the final act of the game was handled is kinda shakey but I loved it otherwise.

If gameplay is absolute best then it shouldn't be a problem. Bad cast might be though, but I hope I'll like them better than most itt. Though I don't know what direction atlus went after p3's grimness and p4's lightheartedness.

I mean, it's still the same deal with social links and japanese events like golden week and a hot springs arc and all that typical stuff right.

I don't think the cast was bad, I actually liked most of the characters. There are a couple of confidants I didn't care about for but they made up for it by offering useful abilities so even then they are still worth interacting with.

Yeah that's true, and tends to be a pretty common issue with JRPG stories.

3 has the best soundtrack

4 has the best dungeon designs

5 has the best party for battles

I think main cast characterization in P4 is stronger. I think P5 confidant (social link) characterization is stronger. I think the game should've spent a bit more time on laying out the main character's backstory, because he's got a bit more personality than past Persona protagonists, but also comes from considerably more interesting circumstances.

The gameplay revamps in P5 are excellent, and the game's polish is irresistible. The music is excellent too. There are fewer peaks on this soundtrack, but the overall quality is consistently stronger in my opinion. I don't know what happened with the "Mementos" track, though. That track playing in that location (where you may spend hours) is literal torture, and worse than any of the tartarus tracks ever were.

My quibbles aside, I think this is the best the series has ever been.

mementos is a throwback to the old nes days of 10 second loops of music......

I'd say it's pretty great and worth buying. Some of the characters are lacking, and after the story from the 7th palace onwards feels rushed. The story overall is pretty great and the gameplay is a massive improvement on previous games.
