I'm not close to 30 yet, but 30 really isn't that old. The average age for a first marriage of an American male is 31. And that means about half of those marriages involve a male over 30.

Oh no, it's not like I hate them, really. I have friends in their 30s too and they're fine upstanding members of the society. But just generally speaking...people in their 20s and people in their 30s, it's just...you know...weird when we mingle together too much. Some people from my generation are just not ready for it.

Okay, so here's the deal.

The date went well. We met up at a restaurant since it's Ramadan and I was there to break my fast. Then we went on a walk, I bought manga, etc. Then we went to a cheap-ish sushi restaurant and he had dinner and we talked.

He's not awkward and we share a lot of interests, so that's good. He's beaten all of the mainline FF except for 12 and 13, which is waaay more than me.

But I don't really feel a romantic attraction to him at this point. Nor...lust. I mean I'm okay starting out as a friend, but he's looking for a romantic relationship from the get go (as indicated by the pet names), so there's a disconnect there.

I'm thinking I'll give this another try (as in go on a date once again), but if after that I don't see myself pursuing a romantic relationship with him I'll come clean and say it to him. I wouldn't mind being friends with him, he's really nice to be with. But if that's not what he's looking for, then not much I can do. Faking it for too long will just hurt both of us.

At least that's what I think. Any suggestions?

30 to 26 isn't even remotely worth mentioning. Even 18 to 22 doesn't seem abnormal to me. You're practically the same age!
