Got a letter in the post today, seems annoying.

I got excused because I was a student.

I've been called in but never served on the jury. Just sat in the audience section of the courtroom for a couple hours.

It sounded like they were going off the same list for juror selection as the one they used for roll call. And my name was toward the middle/bottom of that one.

I had about 6 years of being excused. Too bad I can't use the same reason anymore.

Can't you use the "I have to look after my wife" excuse nowadays though?

For a medical exemption like that I would need a doctor's note stating she can't take care of herself. She's not that bad off.

i sat on the jury for a guy by the name of chuck montoya who went on a grand theft auto shooting spree through the streets of downtown denver with his brother.

they shot a cop, and shot at/tried to run over several others. his brother was shot and killed after the tuck hit a tree going 60 mph, and chuck was brought down by attack dog. 3 others in the truck were tracked down and arrested.

Yes I just received my 4th ever JD summons.

1st one I had to go to the court location, and then I got selected to a case. However I got excused during the juror questioning part. Case was to see if some guy was "crazy". I forgot exactly what I said but a few people laughed and thats when they excused me.

2nd Summons I didn't have to go.
3rd Summons I had to go. I waited in the assembly room all day but didn't get picked to a case.

For my recent one I just called today and I don't have to report on Monday which is my start date. However I still have to call Monday after 7pm to see if I have to report later this week I suppose.

Anyone have a good idea if the first time you call says you don't have to report, then theres a good chance you won't have to show up at all and you can mail in your jury summons?

Got letter at least 4-6 times now, only had to go in once on a Friday. Most of us there never got called up for questioning before the day ended.

About 1/4 of the people that did get called in for juror selection got dismissed

Had to go in once for a federal, but objected on the grounds of bias to get out because it was a civil lawsuit which makes it easier to get out. Plus they only used 6-man juries for those cases apparently. It was fucking terrible overall. In general, I get summons practically every year (fed and state are on dif systems, so you could actually serve on two juries in the same year). Meanwhile, my dad had never once been called.

But what's up with all of these jury duty topics lately?

called in but excused. another time they tried calling me for it but i had moved several months prior. (completely different part of the state)

First time, I was a student and managed to postpone until December. Never had to go in because it was during Christmas week.

Second time, it was during summer. Got all the way to the courtroom where the judge introduced minor details about the case. Told the judge I wouldn't be able to stay the entirety of the trial because I would start school in a couple of months (the judge said the trial would be at least 4 months). Judge told me I could go.

Third time was last year. Sat in the waiting room for an hour. My group was told we could go home over the intercom.

Yeah. I got out of the first time I was called but the second time I was the first selected. It ended up being really interesting.

Don't forget county and local municipality, so that's technically four different juries.

I potentially have jury duty on Monday the 12th. Have to call in. Gotta say, I'm actually excited to be part of the process.

Once. Went, sat on one prospective, didn't get picked, went back to the jury pool room, was told all the other cases for the day were already settled so got paid and went home.
