Both are important. Both are being talked about, one just happens to be more proximal in time.

literally no topics about trump or politics right now on ce have anything to do with budget cuts

so whether or not its true in a broader sense that people still care (there are articles being published after all) it can still be true that ce should focus on something else rather than the paris climate accord

But a couple of days ago you would have found several, and in a couple of days you will again.

People orient towards novelty.

Anything that requires America to spend money while giving China a free pass on something they're a far worse offender on is a bad deal.

i maintain that there will be 0 budgets passed in trump's administration

the fiscal cliff 'grand compromise' essentially made budgets a filibusterable item

the sequester will be with us for a good long time

Yep, we'll just get stopgap "resolutions" to keep things from crashing

There's also this. Trump's budget has basically no chance of passing anyway. At worst it's just another reason to point at Trump and laugh.

yes, and those continuing resolutions keep funding levels static

which for dems is a win

eh

I mean, they did lose the CR battle in terms of spending already, though, right? Ending the sequester-era rules about military and domestic spending was good for Rs

I'm honestly not as versed in that budgetary stuff as I should be though

I'm really waiting on pins and needles to see what the senate suggests for the AHCA though

The reason it's not being talked about as much is because it's toothless. The Paris deal, regardless of whether it goes far enough or is a bad deal for us, is still a sign of how much Trump cares little about allowing the USA to be ahead and able to guide world events. Not to mention that the man himself is a climate change denier.
Meanwhile his budget cuts are basically GOP 101 and he himself isn't going to get much done since he has literally no ability to control his party or offer the opposition a deal.

It's just that Paris is a large deal because of how ass-backwards it is and how weak and embarrassing we look to our allies around the world, his budget is going nowhere.

I thought so. I'm trying to find evidence now, but I'm coming up short so I could be wrong

so its not exactly as clearcut as I thought, but the continuing resolution arguably broke the democratic push for parity between domestic and defense spending: http://www.militarytimes.com/articles/budget-deal-defense-spending-parity-fight

but its through the OCO, which I think isnt impacted by the sequester anyway

that had to be passed with >=60 votes, then

it'll have to be, each time.

I don't think the democrats have an appetite for a budget showdown the way the GOP did, though, especially in the senate. This budget sailed like 75-25, which is much more comfortable than the house margin

guess we'll see!

i mean, it sailed because the republicans basically said "we will ignore trumps budget entirely"

we'll see a shutdown if they try to force his budget through
