Would you ever want to be? And this hypothetical fame doesn't necessarily guarantee you money......

......or wealth.

Fame without wealth just means you got a ton of nosey-ass people after you. No thanks.

I think I'd be okay with being famous within a specific community. (Think something like Mew2King, but probably ideally a slightly smaller community than the Smash one.)

I don't think I'd like being famous among the general public though.

I was going to say yes because I assumed that this came with money

but if it doesn't come with money, then no

how do you even get famous without making money? seems like the only way is to basically be known and hated for something.

I've sort of already experienced this within a very small subgroup (fewer than a thousand people). Even then, it has been overbearing, although not without its rewards.

Probably not.

LOL, no, but good callback. Just some dorky online writing read: roleplaying lol game that I've been in since I was like 16. Hardly anyone plays anymore (I think they've got like 120 unique players left) but the people I met there were a big part of the reason I was able to travel nonstop for years back in the day. Anyway, again, it's pretty silly, but my character basically became the equivalent of any fantasy story's main hero over time and I wound up being treated like I'm famous by basically everyone I met.

Just that one morsel of "fame" has been enough for me to want to slither into the shadows. >_>

Ha, no. The older I get, the less I want to be around people. I'm aiming to be more of a hermit than anything.

I'd rather have a few friends than a lot of fans.

Also, have you seen how creepy some fans can be? Grabbing or touching people without their permission, stalking them, or even unironically blackmailing the people they're fans of because something happened that they didn't like.

And then you're held responsible for your fans' behavior even when you tell them not to do things that hurt other people, and then you get a large hater base full of people that hate you because you're famous and they think you're overrated.

Yeah no. I don't envy the famous at all.

Yes, but only if it comes with like the benefit of money or the ability to use it to make money . Like Fame in itself is a decent way to get some type of endorsement or sponsorship.

Depends on the kind of fame. Fame that lasts beyond death, sure. Fame for something fleeting, or that's going to result in paparazzi following me, no thank you.
