Don't really have great memories of the boards myself. They've mostly just been a time waster. But the fact that there's less visitors means less good discussions and so even I come here less.

My best memories of GameFAQs are really from the '90s, when it was the only way to get free help for games. Otherwise you had to look in strategy guides or game magazines. Thanks to wikis and such, I don't even use GameFAQs for game help much anymore, unless I'm playing some older game that there isn't much documentation for anywhere BUT GameFAQs.

My earliest memory from this site is getting into a massive flame war with a female user and her alleged IRL friend who also had a GFAQs account on the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! board back in '05 when I first joined. I don't even remember what it was about, but I remember having a massive meltdown, lmao. Granted I was only 13 at the time.

Everyone moved onto sites that didn't have ivory tower mods enforcing insanely anal and censoriffic rules (ie 4chan, reddit, facebook groups to a certain degree)

This place is too busy trying to be childproof and insanely politically correct to be remotely appealing anymore. Hell I haven't bothered with CE in like 10 years, and within a week of being here its been petty moderation after petty moderation. I got modded for mentioning i technically wasn't considered white by the internet, where in certain circles people call the irish and scots "potato n-words" and mentioned that the british held a medical conference way back when to try and convince people the irish were a different species and not human. The post was literally a piece of information, and historical info, directed at no one and it was modded as "offensive".

I was also put to warned for 3 days for saying it was stupid to expect a fast food tier pizza place like dominos to not mess up orders (about some halal meats crap, fast food tier places mess up orders like its their job, anyone with any sense that has specific dietary restrictions doesn't deal in low tier food places if they want quality and consistency, that's common sense but oh dear you criticized someone that happened to be muslim, that isn't even a poster on this board but some dude in a news link, get out the cross and nails that's not PC)

This place has become a hair trigger over sensitive wet towel type of place, where no meaningful conversation can be had unless its a completely pg13 politically correct topic. Its ****ing boring man. All that's here now are stupid poll topics with sensationalist titles that look like they were written by the jerry springer staff, virtue signaling topics, and topics designed to dance around the TOS and annoy people without technically violating any rules just toeing the line. On the small amount of topics that aren't passive 500 attempts and have substance, I'd rather lurk since its too obnoxious to second guess what could be modded on stupid technicalities because a specific mod agreed with a specific user that was offended over something petty or stupid. And this is literally the only board on this site where I've ever had to worry about that. Its pathetic.

I'd rather go to /a/ (/sometimes/, on the rare occasion its a legit anime topic and not creepy waifu crap) /g/, /m/, /tv/, /v/ and generals for specific games, and if I have an opinion about something in the news, I can comment in the comments on facebook, or make a wall post and never have to worry about it being reported because my couple hundred friends aren't easily offended babies and are mature enough to respect other peoples opinions and don't abuse the report system out of spite because they did get offended, they'll debate me instead.

CE is a dinosaur and should of been killed off after CBS became the parent company. You can't have a real general purpose social board of actual substance if you have to walk on eggshells anytime you post because anything can be offensive to anyone anymore. It's pointless.
