Cheese cake factory should Be made criminal.

No sane person would eat food that makes you obese and celebrate it.

Here is a compromise.

You pay a $500 tax every time you goto that place that the money goes to obesity education.

Then it gets a pass.

There is not a single item they serve that qualifies as food.

It's all just obesity pills.

In that case you best not ever be smoking, drinking alcohol, consuming anything with sugar (unless it naturally occurs in it, like fructose), consuming anything with processed foods in it (including bread) or preservatives.
Basically if you're not eating organic then you're a hypocrite because you're also willfully eating things that are bad for your body.

How are any of those things hallmarks? Most menus aren't that big in the US. And you're going to equate anything as being quintessentially American, it's flat-out bizarre that you'd overlook McDonald's which is one of America's symbols abroad.

Don't blame Cheesecake Factory because you're obese. That's a matter of your personal weakness. The people who get fat from Cheesecake are guys who would get fat anywhere.

Not really a fan.

The cakes are just too sweet for my tastes. Portions are huge but then again, that's just the standard in the country I reside in. Main courses weren't that special.

But still, it was a nice place to dine.

Almost every food makes you obese. It's a quantity issue. I'm sure you could get obese on foie gras if you were dedicated enough to it.

edit: Thought I was responding to the OP, hence the foie gras comment, really you can replace that with virtually any food though.

But to be fair it's not just the food that we eat or the amount of food that we eat, there are other factors that influence weight gain and obesity such as genetics and innate body type.

Some can eat and eat without gaining a pound while others eat little and still gain weight.

To be fair it still comes down to how much you eat. Ignoring for the moment that the effect of "fast metabolism" vs "slow metabolism" has been ridiculously overstated it still comes down to CICO.

No matter how you shake it it's an energy balance problem.

You'll seldom see people getting obese eating baked chicken breast or grilled fish. The hard truth is that fast food and many restaurants sell food that is extremely unhealthy, calorie dense, and not particularly nutritious.

Why do you think so many men and women are overweight or obese nowdays. Seriously, guys especially are gross looking and eat so much junk-- unclean diets and sugar addiction run rampant with your average american.

Probably has a bit to do with people suddenly deciding the dadbod was something to aspire to. From a societal burden perspective it sucks, but from a purely selfish perspective there are some benefits to it. As a fit person, I just keep looking better and better as every other guy gets fatter and fatter.

You actually do see a lot of people getting fat off baked chicken... well, barbecued, grilled, etc, which is similar enough. And fish consumption in the US wasn't high back when Americans were thinner. Actually, the fish consumption TODAY is far higher than back in the 1950s (by around 33%) so, if we're using your logic, maybe the fish consumption is driving up weight gain >_>

Sedentary lifestyle combined with over-consumption. The sugar claims are mostly garbage and, to drive home the importance of caloric intake vs energy expenditure, we've had quite a few people lose weight while mostly eating at McDonald's.

Pretty much this. The lifestyle ( and mostly the jobs) we have these days lack physical activity. This, combined with unhealthy food, over consumption, genetics and slow metabolism equate being overweight and/or obese.

Exercise is a must. Even just 10 minutes of intense workout is fine but....clearly, people don't partake in this.

So much misinformation, as expected from a FWL. Grilled chicken breast in and of itself is quite healthy, has very few calories, and is full of protein (just as grilled fish does). When people start adding garbage like buttery sauces, fry it, bread, etc. that's when they get fat off of it.

The sugar claims are not "mostly garbage"-- there are various studies that demonstrate how addictive sugar is, and the effects it has on various hormone release mechanisms to promote fat storage.

You seem to think that I made a point against calories in versus out-- I'm aware of people who've lost weight eating sugar, but that is not a healthy way to lose weight (no nutrition + all the wonderful side effects that come along with consuming so much sugar).
