I'm in the same boat but I'm trying to stay atleast a little positive and say "hey, we can make good things happen to ourselves if we try hard enough." :/ stay strong and remember that every sucks equally, it's not a specific race, religion or gender. You may end up with people who love/care for you, but losing them can be hard as well. So yeah, life is easier if you don't care about anyone but yourself, are selfish etc. Because you focus on yourself more you can often end up with much more, people will tend to do more for you then you return etc. Problem is, at least some of us just are empathic and care bout other people, so being a "good" person comes naturally to us, and it's hard to resist helping people who need it. That and an underlying belief that if we all cared for each other the world would be so much better, can really make it hard to be selfish and think of yourself before others. Personally I suggest you focus on finding things you enjoy in life, and then try and spread that joy to the people around you, but focus on your own wants and needs first. Find joy in life, and others will flock to you because everyone wants to be happy, do fun things etc. By finding things you love/enjoy you will actually end up helping others even more. There are still people who will take advantage of you etc, but remember, just because others are selfish or do bad things does not mean you need to be. Keep an eye out for people like that, but don't automatically distrust people either. Trust, but be aware, care, but protect yourself, help others, but put your own needs first. Life is what you make of it, and nothing is stopping you from having a blast, except yourself. I'm sure part of the reason it's not happening here is because I hate everyone in this conservative hellpit... really looking forward to seeing how the real world has progressed since I left. You sound pretty judgemental and angry. Not everyone that has some wealth is evil, not every conservative is a bad person.
