Insurance companies were forced. The problem with the ACA is that it requires you to make a minimum amount to get a tax subsidy (and not go over it), but if you can't afford it, then medicaid was supposed to take care of you. But Obama wanted his legacy pass so badly that he had to butcher it up, and left medicaid expansion up to the states, therefore fucking the red states and taking care of the blue states.

Obama didn't care that poor people living in red states saw an increase in their premiums and had no alternative. Red states don't vote for him. Well that kinda bit Hillary in the ass a tad, treating "flyover" states and the rust belt like they don't matter.

Supreme court didn't make any promises to the American public and then renege on it because of "muh legacy".

Obama himself has said that the ACA didn't go over like he planned. Of course he blamed republicans, but I mean why is this an argument? The ACA is an admitted failure by both parties, and it was Obama's legacy.

And redoing the whole health care system should take over a year, even longer than that. It being rushed would be the only good excuse Obama has. Otherwise it just makes him look like a dumbass.

I would like to add that I don't hate anyone here, for whatever they believe, but we need to be able to have civil discourse about these things, or we're never gonna sort our differences. I'm mostly only right leaning due to 2nd amendment, and the ACA didn't help, but the rest of it, couldn't give a shit. I do believe we should be vetting the shit out of any immigrants that are coming in right now but I also think it is a stupid thing to drop bombs in a country but refuse to house any of their refugees when we have no plans to rebuild it.

mine stayed the same for years, then ACA hit is automatically went up 50%. It is now triple what it was, and some of it is worse coverage. some of it is better coverage but not for things that I actually use.

mind you, i pay out of pocket, but even my parents, who get it from employer, have seen a 20% or so increase, and their coverage is A LOT worse than it used to be.

But you weren't.

The average rise in premiums actually went down during the ACA. But premiums always rise, disproportionally more than inflation.

The problem you have is that you're using correlation and thinking it is causation. If you truly went years without a premium going up, then when it finally does go up it will be quite a bit. This was true before the ACA and it's going to be true afterwards. It's an overall market pattern.

If you like correlations, health premiums went up more under Bush than under Obama. Like twice as much.
