Kerr wasn't a great player. he was okay but not great. he was maybe a little better than Fisher but not a ton.

Gasol/Odom/Bynum was probably better than Pippen/Kukoc/Kerr and, of course, Shaq.

Jordan. Pippen is an amazing second fiddle, but he's no prime Shaq, who was the leader of Kobe's first wave of rings.

After being overshadowed his whole career, it now seems like Pippen might actually be overrated at times. He's my favorite player ever, but I've seen people rank him as a Top 20 all-time. I don't think he's quite at that level.

the single worst part of the NBA playoffs the last few years has been injury

the years lebron was in miami, it never felt like injury drastically shaped the playoffs (except for the celtics getting hurt) - i think the playoffs each of those years were pretty amazing (except the east in 2014 after the pacers started sucking)

golden state's three-years-straight run to the finals has been soured badly by the injuries that their opponents keep facing. and then in the finals bogut goes down and green gets suspended in the same game.

I love basketball but yeah the NBA playoffs the last few years have been trash save for a series or two.

This year has had so many blowouts. Not that I can't enjoy a good basketball blowout, but when you put the NBA next to the NHL it's such a stark contrast in quality that I still can't fathom that the NBA is so much more popular.

Honestly, I think any chance of GS being seen that way with any kind of fanfare whatsoever died when they lost last year. Last year would have been special. This year people have just kinda already moved on to thinking they'll win and don't really care.

Man, I remember watching that series live the Sonics played the Bulls really tough at times. Look I know the Bulls are super amazing and stuff but the Sonics hung with them for a bit there.

I remember a 538 article a little while ago where they played with their number voodoo and deduced that when the Bulls beat the Sonics by 22 on the road in Game 3 (the Sonics were 38-3 at home in the regular season), it was the strongest any NBA team had ever been.
