I honestly can't see Mario beating Sephiroth. He wouldn't get his ass kicked like he did the previous two times, but I think Sephiroth would get 52-53%.

aside from Link first, I don't even know anymore.

Part of me wants to say Sephiroth at this point competes with Sonic for last place. He looked straight up trash in 2013. but it's been almost four years now. God knows where Crono especially is since his game is absurdly strong again.

Mega man beat Sonic in 2005 when Sonic was still somewhat in his prime. I would argue that Sonic has fallen more than Mega Man since then. The fact that he beat Charizard in 2013 with Zero being in the poll shows he still has strength.

I'd be hesitant to put Crono anywhere but last given that the percentages on the Crono/Pikachu/Magus poll suggest a high probability that Pikachu still would have beaten Crono 1v1. And that was before Pokemon GO.

Snake was being rallied the entire contest in 2013. I'm not denying that is stronger than he used to be, but I don't think he's as strong as some people think he is.

The Mario/Samus relationship is weird. Samus tends to do better against common opponents, but Mario wins 1v1

He also whalloped Sephy 1v1 in 2010.

And you are severely overestimating Sephy. He looked so bad in 2013 that people were beginning to consider the possibility of Kirby beating him.

Mario would still win in a 1v1 against Samus. He stomped her years ago, but it would be a much closer match now.

snake had a good run but i think he's more likely to have a notable drop out of anyone on the list simply because he was getting amped up thanks to the constant amount of Metal Gear games.

i mean he'll still be popular but it just won't be his #2 position anymore. at this point, with the massive resurgence of CT love and smaller base, it may well resemble '02 a lot more... which was Crono > Snake.

The one thing I will never understand is how Crono always did so well against Mario. Honestly he was fairly weak against most people (except Mega Man of course).
