I get there are a few glaring flaws and it's nowhere near perfect but people are acting like it's the next Mighty Number 9.

It perfectly recaptures that feel of 90s era Rare platformers, so then why are so many people disappointed with it?

it doesnt bring anything new or innovative to the party. you cant just rehash shit, you have to add some twist to make it unique.

I haven't played Yooka Laylee but I did revisit Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie recently. I was a little more disappointed this time because Banjo Kazooie doesn't really have a lot of puzzles or much to do besides grab floating objects and fight things, and Banjo Tooie is just overburdened with different ideas that they've done nothing with. Playing as Mumbo Jumbo should have been awesome, but all he really needs to do is stand on a pad so Banjo and Kazooie can go somewhere else. Most of the different egg types are not even needed anywhere, except grenade eggs which are used for pretty much everything. If these are the ideas that they're rehashing, they're gonna need to do better.

People backed the project based on the nostalgia of games like BanjoKazooie which the game delivered on plus some. If you were expecting something new and innovative from a game whose Kickstarter campaign was backed almost entirely on nostalgia, then you only have yourself to blame

Some of you had so many unrealistic expectations that you put on the game that disappointment was all you were ever going to get

Playtonic promised a game like BK, we got a game like BK plus some and people are still whining and trying to pin this as another example of crowdfunding disasters like Mighty Number 9
