As a white landowner I do appreciate the serfs who come in to do the crappy jobs for little pay so that I can live that much more luxuriously.

As a landowner, I hate that they're undercutting US labor forcing them into unemployment so I have to pay additional property taxes for welfare bonuses. Ultimately, I'm paying more than I would if they just hired American.

Silly middle class: If you are paying property tax you are merely a homeowner, not a landowner.

You should really support universal healthcare then as the largest cause of unemployment is the fact that aging baby boomers are forced to keep working due to healthcare costs keeping them from even considering retirement and freeing up a spot in the job market.

Unless of course you meant you only hate having to pay taxes caused by brown people.

You have to pay property tax for ANY land you own, unless you have a self-incorporated town at which point you're stuck paying for your own road maintenance costs, etc, which winds up costing you far more.

lol, no, universal healthcare is not the largest cause of unemployment and that's like paying $10 to save $5.

I just wonder what's going to happen when America implodes. The rise of China, I guess, among other things. Maybe Dynasty Warriors will become educational, and you can play it at school?! Yes!

China's rising no matter what happens with the US, because of a number of inevitable social and economic factors.

In fact, a lot of the problems the US is facing right now are due to the global economy and factors entirely outside the control of any US President or Congress, and which there really isn't a "fix" for.

In a sense, the US has been benefiting from disproportional success for a number of reasons for decades now, and the check is starting to come due. The next few decades are going to involve a lot of downward slide for everyone no matter who is in charge or what decisions they make.

Very true. How much China gains will be affected though. We saw what America has done without any real checks or balances since the fall of the USSR. Empires always collapse from within. I think a lack of reinvestment in itself will be its ultimate downfall and the worst part is that those responsible will just fuck off over to Europe or something.

Which makes even less sense than claiming that healthcare causes unemployment which, by the way, is a Fox News argument.

In many regards, China is the world's largest ponzi scheme, a series of bubbles built on bubbles. So much of their economy is built on speculative trends which thus far haven't panned out, including massive investments in low-quality real estate that make our real estate bubble look tiny.

Yes and no. We had a tremendous advantage coming out of WWII where much of the world's infrastructure was devastated which would have diminished naturally (although, technically speaking, you can hold an advantage like that by locking down the market) but we accelerated it through overpricing US labor and the removal of tariffs which led to the export of jobs. However, our greatest advantage has always been America's tremendous natural resources and a strong work ethic; the former still exists in spades while the latter has largely vanished.

In general, the US gets screwed on trade not only because we run a trade deficit with pretty much everybody -- although that's generally a sign of strength because we can afford to do so -- but also because many of their governments subsidize their companies and products, which is how China is able to effectively ship things for free. I'm sure all of us have bought things on ebay where the total cost is less than what's marked for shipping.

That's not actually true. Many empires have been conquered or fractured.

Infrastructure investments are somewhat overrated if you don't have the industry to support it. It's like building highways and bridges to nowhere.
