on the political compass, nations in Scandinavia are definitely in the lib-left quadrant while America in the authoritarian-right quadrant, so yes, it is definitely more libertarian than the US.

I dunno about the other countries, but Denmark has like 60% income tax, one of the lowest jobless rates in the world, government funded healthcare, you get paid to go to college, paid maternity/paternity leave, and is in like Top 5 happiest countries in the world.

There was some bad shit going on in the 90's that we were ignorant about because we were kids or living in our own bubbles.

9/11 burst that bubble hard and we got mad at our neighbors for sharing the same religion as the suicide bombers, even as we ignored religiously motivated bombings of clinics which performed abortions (or were Planned Parenthood) and didn't, as a nation, blame all Christians for them.

We can't reinvent the internet (...or can we?) but we can help reclaim some of the niceties of the economy by, say, raising the minimum wage and implementing a maximum wage that CEOs would be forced to adhere to.

How are CEO's "hoarding" profits? They are compensated just like anyone else. CEOs take on huge responsibilities. What arbitrary limit would be set upon them? It's up to the companies to decide how they are to be paid.
