It was nice out, so I had breakfast in the backyard while my dog was walking around in the yard. The doorbell rings and my dog storms towards the front gate like she always does. Suddenly, I heard a bloodcurdling scream coming from near the gate. I rush over to find my dog lying down yelping like crazy. According to the deliveryperson at the gate, she ran over and suddenly took a nasty fall when one of her legs gave out. I rushed her to a vet, where it turned out she had pretty severe bone cancer and that there really wasn't anything they could do. They gave me a minute to soak it all in, and I asked them to put her down.
It's now about 12 hours later and I'm still trying to take in how fast everything happened. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I actually had a similar thing happen years ago with our family dog. I was out at work, left around 9am, our dog was fine. Then two hours later I get a phone call from my sister saying she passed away. What happened was right after I left, the dog was walking around and collapsed, and she couldn't get up. They took her to the vet and an x-ray revealed she had liver cancer, and a large mass on the liver had suddenly ruptured and she had massive internal bleeding. Obviously they had her euthanized. I recently lost my 14yo beagle. Although she was old I didn't expect things to happen so suddenly either. My wife and I considered her our first child. Had her 6 years before we got married.

I don't think I'm ever going to forget that scream. I've had dogs all my life but I have never heard one scream like that. That shit was haunting.
And she wasn't even that old. She just turned 8. My previous dog of the same breed lived to a ripe old 14. ... Copied to Clipboard!
