It's weird and not true to the source at all but always seems to end up the most memorable part of the movie so whatevs.

His power in the movies isn't so much speed as basically stopping time.

It's weird and not true to the source at all but always seems to end up the most memorable part of the movie so whatevs.

If the Flash tried to use that type of budget, the entire season after that would just be them talking about his problems and how to deal with them. I think it cost them like nearly 100k just for the Quicksilver stuff this time.

I don't think he really uses speed, just temporary time dilation. Because he was able to move fast enough to stop an explosion, toss people out of the building (without their bones and everything turning to ash.), goof off, and then continue the whole thing. The same happened in Days of Future Past. If he was really moving at super speed, then when he made the dude punch himself in the face. The guys arm would have been yanked off or killed himself.

No. It's speed, but you're seeing it from his perspective instead of the audience. The Flash / Quicksilver both can and do see everything in super slow motion although like Superman's Super hearing and such they can turn it off and experience normal time, but their reflexes remain super fast.

I know it's supposed to be speed but he's simply moving way too fast for it. He's so fast (remember it even looks like he comes to a full stop during these scenes to just mess around but is presumably still going at super speed) that even if it is somehow just his speed the difference between that and slowing time is negligible at this point. Quicksilver especially has never been as fast as Flash. It'd make more sense for the movies to just explain after a certain speed threshold he begins to warp time, IMO.

Him not being as fast as flash is meaningless as Flash isn't and will never be in a fucking X-Men movie. For all intents and purposes Quicksilver is the fastest man alive in X-Men.

And this explanation is a bunch of stupid ass unecessary exposition that doesn't need to be given when people are already just taking it at face value. Kind of like what happened when George Lucas tried to explain The Force scientifically.

This isn't the first time this discussion has popped up, be it on the internet or even with friends IRL. I don't even care that much about this particular subject it's just an observation.

The Force thing is also a lot different as it changes the entire theme and essence of the idea and redefines how it works. Also ironically, I read somewhere George did it because a lot of fans back before the prequels actually did want a fleshed out explanation (until they realized they didn't).

They wanted a GOOD explanation about how it was a sentient universal mystical energy field or something. NOT microorganisms in someone's blood.

Yeah, I'm not defending it. It was never even really something I felt like needed explaining.

Another part that bothered me was the PT trying to establish that if you didn't have The Force as a young child, you could never have it (Luke presumably being an exception due to his father). Made getting older much more sad and a lot of the EU ignored it anyway.

This is a very common opinion of the movie. I was primed to see a meh movie based on reviews, but ended up enjoying it quite a bit.
