It really sounds to me like you just don't like transgenderism. You think it's weird, or sick, or gross, or wrong, or immoral, or unnatural, or whatever. And you're just using "It's anti-science!" as a pretense to cloak your true intentions and present a more outwardly-objective, "justifiable" reason why it's okay for you to dislike it. And nobody's really calling you out on it, because caring about social justice is out of fashion right now, and most other folks here either agree with you, or they aren't as secure in themselves to bravely come out in support of transgenders in 2017. The same way folks were embarrassed to come out in support of gays and lesbians when it was hugely unpopular to do so in the 1970s and 1980s.

Transgenderism is something entirely different than gender fluidity.

It's not strictly liberal or conservative. There's a large group of anti-science extremists on both ends of the spectrum who believe in it.

I think the idea of opposing it falls more into a libertarian error tbh. Because the premise of vaccination is it is something we ALL have to do. And I think libertarians tend to be against the principle of stuff like this, particularly American libertarians that put such emphasis on individual choice. It is when ideology starts to become dangerous, for sure.

Idk why people get so irrationally angry with gender. Gender isn't what's in your pants, it's how one identifies themselves. Us westerners only see male and female, but if you try to understand that these people are defining gender as a spectrum then it makes a bit more sense. Imagine if we only thought of color as being color/not color and that's it, but these people are calling things red, blue, green, etc. Whatever X gender they're trying to say that they feel, it's just them labeling some facet of masculinity or femininity that we just take to understand as being male or female. While it might be a bit silly to say "I am Xur gender because I am asexual and I like to watch anime and read Marx," it's just a part of the weird human nature we have to label everything. It's no stranger than people who seriously identify with their horoscopes.

Yes, there is something wrong with treating a delusional person like they're perfectly fine. It's harmful to both the person who's embraced the pseudoscience and to society. The person who thinks they're genderfluid should be seeking therapy and not relying on people like you to tell us to "accept" them. You're not being helpful. At all.

Whether I acknowledge that or not, though, militant social conservatives will always conflate them. They don't like either concept -- transgenderism *or* gender fluidity -- so if you announce you're in favor tolerance for one of them, they'll *always* try to *stain* you with... well, with what they consider to be the sheer ridiculousness of the other. It's just a trick they use to distract and obfuscate.

My answer is: I don't care! If you're a boy who feels you were born the wrong sex, whose heart pines to be a girl, then my heart goes out to you, and I hope you do whatever you need to do to find happiness. If you're someone who's confused about your gender, someone who might vacillate back and forth, then my heart goes out to you just the same!
