Do you deny science on the existence of Climate Change?

"Never Trumper" NYT Columnist, Bret Stephens has been bombarded with hate messages after he wrote an article suggesting the "certitude" of Hillary Clinton winning the 2016 election was th same attitude of some climate change advocates!!

He argued that incorrect polling data from the presidential election could prove that science might be WRONG as well in relation to CLIMATE CHANGE!!

The so called "Never Trumper" said he's received hate mail in the last 18 months from Trump Supporters but said nothing has been more hateful than what he got as he said "After 20 months of being harangued by bullying Trump supporters, i'm reminded that the nasty left is no different. Perhaps worse."

Twitter was outraged over his article after users said "NYT recent hire of the climate change denying, pathetic excuse of journalist Bret Stephens is unacceptable. Period". Another said "If people from the left are saying you're an a**hole and people from the right are saying you're an a**hole. Maybe you're an a**hole"

Even journalists were blasting him including Gizmodo Libby Watson who said "You're a s***head. a crybaby lil f***in weeenie. a massive **** too"

But the ex-WALL STREET JOURNAL writer said it's absurd to support climate change without being aware of both sides of the argument and used Clinton's polling figures to suggest incorrect data could be "lulling, misleading and often dangerous".

He said "there's a lesson heree. We live in a world in which data convey authority. But authority has a way of descending to certitude and certitude begets hubris. By now i can hear the heads exploding. Let me put it another way. Claiming total certainy about the science traduces the spirit of science and creates openings for doubt whether a climate claim proves wrong"

Do you deny science on climate change? let's see what people will vote

Which should be non-controversial. After all, the worst enemy of a cause often isn't the actual opposition, but members, advocates, and allies who spout wrong information which undermines the cause itself.

I don't understand why people are so hell bent on denying climate change.

"It's just a conspiracy to shut down big corporations", spout people who have been fed that very idea from big corporations. As if the meteorologists have something to gain from big corporations dying or something.

This is completely reasonable to say unless it's about climate change, apparently.

It's more a matter of the dogmatic nature of MM climate change where any reasonable questions are noted as an attack which needs to be suppressed and the attacker destroyed. It's very Spanish Inquisition. If you so much as question even one aspect, you're branded a heretic and people want to burn you at the stake.

Well, yes, the issue is never "Does the climate change?" because clearly it does, including incredibly anomalous periods throughout recorded history, but what role might humanity be playing and to what extent can we control the climate for human benefit.

The only problem with that is even the alleged 97% consensus is first misrepresented (the original phrasing was along the lines of 97% of climate scientists who took a stance on MMGW found in favor of man-made; this evaluation was based on readings of their papers and includes some scientists who claim that they were misrepresented) and then hard to actually substantiate. In fact, it's bullshit nonsense claims like that which make the movement look sketchy. As John Oliver himself noted in other sketches, it's a suspiciously high number (albeit he's humorously one of the biggest advocates of the 97% myth).

When you use bullshit to try to justify your claims, you're no better than WaPo, Fox News, and other biased sources who misrepresent and misstate facts.

Climate change is happening at much more rapid rate than ever before in history and humanity is quite clearly at fault. That's a fact. There is plenty of proof of it.

"Ever before in history"? Quite a bold statement, considering that actual scientists don't even make that claim. Instead, they reference when they started the recordings. More importantly, it's clearly NOT the most rapid change in history considering we know it changed a lot faster about 66 million years ago.

You mean biased media vs biased media, considering that the sources for the supposed claim are pro-MMGW advocacy groups. More importantly, whenever somebody says 97% or 98%, it sounds made up, like they had thought about doing 99% but considered it too suspicious.

tbh, all of these years with summers are a bummer. We need another year without a summer.
