Aokana was a show I was interested in watching when it aired (it's a Studio Gonzo show about flying little girls, what else could I ask for) but I never got around to it. From what you saw, is it a fun show? Worth checking out?

well I read the VN so I know basically the whole story, the anime picked a single route (probably the most "main" route) to adapt which means that big probem VN adaptations usually have of making weird blended routes shouldn't be present. I've heard it changes the feel of the story a little to be less romance focused and more sports focused though I can't confirm this personally

You're pretty into sports shows right (or was it just baseball?) If so I'd say check it out

Considering that I have absolutely zero experience with VN's, pretty much none of this matters to me. I just care if the show is entertaining, not how faithful it is to whatever source material it came from.

Yeah, I definitely am. I actually didn't know that what the characters were doing in the show while flying around was something similar to a sport, so that just gives me even more of a reason to watch it. Thanks for the information.

Honestly i'm watching ep 4 because i usually give animes 3 eps before dropping them (unless they're outright terrible from the get go), and this seem to have some kind of interesting plot under the 20 layers of stupidity and nonsense, but if nothing interesting happens in this episode, and by interesting i mean show me what the actual plot for this shit is please then yeah i'm dropping it...

And yeah the animation style is weird, and every kid in the show has some sort of malformation because their bodies to head ratio is as disproportionate if not worse than madoka's.

Itachi, seriously. You need to stop reacting like that whenever I say I might watch an anime that isn't one you recommended to me. Plus, aren't you forgetting that the two series I most recently completed (Amagi Brilliant Park and Gonna Be The Twin-Tail) are both series that you recommended?

At some point soon, I'll decide on a few non-dubbed shows that I'll watch during my summer break. Aokana and One Outs will most likely be among them, and one of the others will be a show you recommend. But I still have a couple weeks before my break even starts, so I still have time to think about it.

idk I just checked that one scene really fast and she only stabs his hand. Then the preview shows she'll immediately get ganged up on by all the other girls so she's not doing anything after that. Meanwhile, in mirai nikki the girl apparently kills and tortures many more people

There's a girl in jojo like that (if tamer). She thinks killing someone makes them closer, enjoys him pissing his pants, and was going to keep him electrocuted forever. Then she gets her ass whupped and becomes relatively normal.
Judging from the preview it looks like it's going to be like that for this girl too.
The difference is that the girl in Mirai Nikki never gets rekt so she keeps her insane thoughts throughout the entire series

I always keep an eye out each season for stuff id consider recommending to you, but I haven't seen anything like that since Magical Girl Raising Project. Alice and Zoroku seems like it has the potential, but it's still too early to tell.

I recommend posting some of the dark stuff you've watched, which ones you liked, and others might be able to give suggestions.

From the New World was a fun one. Slow at times, but worth it in the end.
I enjoyed Parasyte.
Magical Girl Raising Project was a fun ride.
Steins;Gate is amazing. Made me tear up a few times.
I've watched about half of Kaiji. I enjoyed what I did watch. No idea why I stopped though.
Despite it having some really bad flaws, I enjoyed Akame Ga Kill.
I'm not familiar with Scum's Wish, Mawaru Penguindrum, Black Bullet, or Rainbow. Can I get some elaboration on those?

I'll keep this list in mind, but manga is a bit harder for me. I don't know why, but I have a hard time reading them. The only Manga I've read start to finish is JoJo. And JoJo is kind of a special case due to me having an almost unhealthy obsession with JoJo.

Although I see Dorohedoro on this list. I remember I started this one a while back. But after reading a bit of it I didn't really get what was happening most of the time and never kept going. I wanted to give it another shot, but I couldn't remember the title.

scum's wish: this is about a boy and a girl who cannot have the ones they truly love because said two are in a relationship with each other. thus, this boy and girl have a chance meeting and share equal feelings and thoughts about the problem. eventually they decide to share physical intimacy like making out and, well it goes from there. basically relationship difficulties and drama

mawaru penguindrum: a family of three, two boys and one girl, live happily together in their home off the edge of town. they spend their days giving their sister happiness as she is terminally ill. (first episode spoilers) one day, they go to the zoo and check out the penguin exhibit where they buy her a penguin hat only for her to go missing. she is found collapsed, rushed to the hospital, and pronounced dead. the two fight about how it is unfair that fate took its course, and question if God is so cruel. however, she is magically revived by the penguin hat and the spirit that dwells inside gives them a command; that it will keep their sister alive so long as they seek out and bring the "penguindrum." thus, they set out to find the penguindrum and encounter others who question fate as well.
tldr this is a story about the depressing reality of life and how fate can be a real douchebag, covers some mature themes but i cant say more than that.

black bullet: so there's these virus spiders called gastrea and they go around infecting and killing people. and we have black bullets made of varanium to kill them or lolis born from infected pregnant women that have inherited gastrea physical abilities and can go hand to hand with them. follows a police guy and a loli as they fight these spiders and try to protect the town as well as recruit more super lolis to save the world. i didnt like this but you might so.

rainbow: historical anime about 7 teens sent to prison for criminal charges, where they meet an 8th who is a former boxer. follows the suffering and humiliation of these 8 inmates sent through hellish conditions to endure their sentences. very depressing and very well done.
