Teenagers generally work at Pizza Hut, and if there's one type of person that will not show up for shifts in the workplace, it's teenagers.

The one near me did that once, it was the last time I ever ordered from them. Like seriously, I am paying $5 extra (with delivery charge and tip) so I don't have to get in my car and you can't even accommodate that? Just have the cashier do it since she clearly wasn't doing anything when I showed up to an empty restaurant to pick up my pizza.

Age may have been an issue, if the employee is under the age of 18 they can not deliver pizza due to insurance reasons. As someone else said, delivery drivers are shit on with horrible pay, under 5$ an hour usually, plus tips, and they have to supply their own gas, on top of fixing any damage over the shifts. It is no reason that delivery drivers are abandoning the job and working else where.

I get full minimum wage ($8.25), plus all my tips, plus I get (overly) compensated for gas. Usually works out to $23-25 an hour, sometimes up to $30+.

Good for you, I just quit a delivery job where I got 5 dollars and hour and tips, I have friends who work at other pizza companies who make 3$ an hour and tips.

If you take doubles, you can get four deliveries in an hour. If he's making 8 bucks an hour, that's about 16 bucks in tips which is four dollars a delivery. Most people ime tip in the $2-$5 range, so perfectly reasonable.

Its not usually that consistant though. Sometimes its slow, sometimes there's just not two deliveires going in the same direction, sometimes there's too many drivers in the store, sometimes tips are shit.

That's fair. I didn't consider the consistency factor.

TC should apply to be the only driver, then he'd make bank

Unrelated question - do delivery drivers have to report tips like waiters/waitresses?

lol. While he'd probably get some amazing tippers from sheer appreciation that they're delivering at all, you'd have a lot more people who were just pissed that their pizza was two hours late beacause TC's the only driver. One driver can't handle a rush in any reasonable amount of time. I've worked nights where we had 8 drivers and the store was backed up two hours because it was that fucking busy.

Yes. Generally at the end of the night, you check out your credit card orders than settle the rest with cash. When you clock out there's a section to report tips.

You can get away with reporting less than what you actually make with some managers though. Generally you want to report that you made at least minimum wage between your hourly pay and tips.
