I haven't had a deliberate, extended conversation with a single girl in almost a year. So, what's normal? Once a month? Once a week?

There are a few women at my current job who I've gone out with in a casual, friendly manner. So, I dunno. In the past two months, once a week or so? Nothing's come of it; one of them told me that one of the others is interested in me, but I'm really not looking for a relationship right now.

I know anxiety can be a daunting, daunting thing. And I know there are all sorts of other reasons for the low number of chats with women. So I really don't intend to come across as lacking compassion or empathy here. But if possible, you should just... try to chat with women a bit more often, you know? It doesn't have to be a complex scientific equation. Swing by a coffeehouse and strike up a conversation -- just a few sentences -- with someone while ordering your drink. Ask them how their day's coming along and if they know of any decent restaurants or general hangout spots. Ask it super-casually. Say thanks afterward; explain you're just trying to get out more.

Bam. It's a conversation. There's a pretty good chance they'll tell you, and they'll say "you're welcome" after you've thanked them, and that'll be the end of that. It's fine. That's perfectly normal. Congrats, you've just mustered the courage for a thirty-second dialogue. Work up from there. Social skills are about building confidence with yourself. Take it slowly, but step outside your comfort zone a little bit every week. Sometimes you'll hit snags. People who will brush you off or behave rudely. That's fine -- that's on them. You'll be improving steadily.

No. This is horrible. What do I have to brag about? Yes, I pretty much knew that this was not normal. I was trying to gauge the extent of the abnormality.

This, I am a lyft driver so I'm talking to single ladies all the time. I don't hit on them, at least I don't think I am, I try to keep it professional.
