Witcher 3 seemed like it when it obliterated GotY, but maybe that's just because there was nothing big Nintendofaqs could latch onto. The one match right now is basically Wind Waker winning the year because next to nobody is voting for Disgaea or X-2 >_>

2003 also has KOTOR, which is fairly popular, as is SoulCalibur II, which helps that the GCN version has Link in it.

I finished some manga guys

Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa
This was really weird. Basically some old dude has some midlife crisis and accidentally ends up becoming a street fighter to protect the weak. It started off making the main character the most unlikable jerk ever, but by the end, he was.... alright I guess. I think that was the main problem really. He felt way too inconsistent in likability. One moment he's putting his life on the line to protect his friends, another and he'll be sexually harassing women. All that being said, I liked it a lot. It had some really funny parts, and Fukumoto writes the best damn internal monologues. Ending is extremely abrupt, but there's a sequel apparently, and I'm not sure this needed one.

Kaiji Part 4
Another Fukumoto work. Honestly, this is my favorite part since the first. It's a pretty bold move to take Kaiji basically out of the gambling, and have him as an onlooker, but it works really well. Kazuya basically buys the lives of three dudes and pits them together in a sick gamble for their lives, and Kaiji is a spectator through all of it. Very intense, well-written psychological thriller this one is.

The romance felt very organic, since they sort of work into it like I feel a real couple would, starting off timid, but becoming more and more intimate as time goes by. Rei and Kira are both strong leads, and learning about their troubled pasts was extremely enjoyable, as well as how they were able to overcome everything with the help of the other. Beautiful romance, and into the TOP 10 it goes!

Well, its #1 MAL rec is Goodnight Punpun. I'm not sure how similar it is to that though. Actually, it doesn't look like you've read much SoL manga, so I'm not sure you've really read anything similar to it either? It's kinda hard to compare to other things.

Sad it's going, but not surprised since nearly everything is wrapped up or will be shortly so it definitely felt like the final arc.

Gonna have 0 ongoing series I'm reading when it's done. Haven't really felt the urge to read anything in a long time

Finished watching Tales of Zestiria the X. This show was pretty great, I thought. Sorey was a cool MC, the rest of the cast was all good, and the story was solid. Main flaw might've been that some of the other party members didn't get as much development as I would've liked? Especially Lailah could've used a bit more focus, IMO. The animation was consistently awesome, with a bunch of fantastic looking fights, though the last battle was a bit of a letdown in terms of coolness. Was funny that the Berseria episodes were literally just in there as an advertisement. I love fantasy stuff in general, and this was basically just a fun fantasy adventure with no real flaws. S2 might've been a little bit weaker than S1, but it was still quite good. Wonder how changed it was from the game.

So I just finished Charlotte.

lol it really should've had the main plot end at episode 10 and just have wacky slice of life stuff for the next 3 episodes. That definitely would've kept people interested in it for another season. The way it is now you can tell that Jun and the other writers weren't ready to end it, probably didn't even have a real ending in mind, and made a massive asspull to "wrap everything up" when keeping it open-ended (though not a cliffhanger, fuck cliffhanger endings) would've been best. I was even expecting just the foreign terrorists to be the final boss but then they had to go and make it that big in scale and for such a shit idea. So many other ways that they could've made everything happy work out but it became a massive idiot plot in the last episode. They also constantly forget that they have a literal spirit channeler in their group already.
Still though, even up to episode 12 it was being a top tier anime if it was going to have another season of episodes and the main problem was the ridiculously stupid and rushed plan they had because 13 was the last one. So because of the journey and the feels in it I would still rate this very high even if the ending was a pile of nonsense.
