And tell everyone you know that too. Seriously. You guys have already taken over Austin to the point where it takes about 2 hours to get across the city now, during rush hour, and at least 1 hour when it's not rush hour. There used to be a couple of down times from about 9-11 am and from about 1-3pm and then again from about 1-5 am, but there is no down time now. The city is always busy.

And that's fine, I don't really care about Austin because I think it's over rated anyways. But the thing that's starting to annoy me now is that all of the small towns that I used to visit growing up are starting to be destroyed by these Californians that keep tearing everything down and building businesses. Not only that, but I've noticed that a lot of people from California are really uptight and rude... honking at people on the road, giving people attitude when we meet them in public... acting like people do in big cities, but in a small town. My mom got into it with one of them the other day because this lady was like, "I hate Texas. I've been here 2 years and the people are so rude." So she said, "Well, it's the people from California that are changing the dynamic. We don't want you here either, go back."

And I feel the same way. If you are from California and thinking about moving to Texas, please don't. Or at least go to a city like Houston that is better equipped to handle a large population. If you are just going to keep coming to Texas and ruining our small towns, then I hope a group of rich Texans move to San Francisco and have the Golden Gate bridge torn down.

Those states don't have metro areas like Austin, Dallas or Houston.

Austin really isn't that great. Everyone rants and raves over 6th street but it's nothing special. Downtown Omaha and New Orleans are a lot better because of the music scenes. All 6th street has are college kids, douche bags, and over priced bars, food, and souvenirs.

Austin has a big music scene, though...

Also, homeboy who complained about property taxes in California, Texas is one of the highest property tax states. Because no income tax or sales tax (not sure about. the latter)

Keep Austin weird. Everyone I have ever met who was from Austin has been a granola eating millenial with extremely odd fashion sense and hipster music taste.

I don't find Californians to be open to diversity of thought.

But I'm leaving Cali for more economic reasons. Housing is overpriced and the government takes too much of my salary to pay other people's bills.

Literally the Live Music capital. Amazing food diversity. You've got natural spring watering holes. Amazing water park nearby. More liberal-leaning people. A city that takes pride in itself. Great drinking water. Tons of festivals and events almost every day.

Don't know why you're trying to convince someone who's lived there for 5 years that your city is great.

Not familiar with this.

No one is!

I'm reading a book called Music City that talks about how festivals have become an engine of economic growth for cities that have embraced them. What people don't usually understand is how the government works fist in glove with the artist community (and, you know, their agents and ticket selling companies) in order to cultivate the image to the outside world.

As a matter of fact, the amount of local government support a festival gets is very strongly correlated to its success.
