Yeah Ryuji, I'm definitely NOT picking you over a beach date with Makoto. I haven't gotten past her Charm gate and still got her scene. Losing all those sweet rank-ups hurt though. Kinda wonder why Makoto showed up over Ann though, as Ann is higher. I did go friendship route with Ann, maybe that was it?

The storyline to get into the fifth Palace was unbelievably stupid.

Just got to the third dungeon. This game is great but I dunno how I feel about the cast so far. I love Ryuji and Morgana but the rest are just meh.

Ryuji and Morgana are definately last for me. 3rd dungeon gives you the best character, at least from what I've seen so far.

This lead up to the 5th palace is a bit weak, and the introduction to the final(?) Party member is also underwhelming.

Ryuji quickly plummeting to the bottom of the overall Persona rankings.

Almost done with the 3rd palace. This ended up being longer than I expected, so SP is starting to run thin. I still have a few Snuff Souls and Coffee though, so I should be okay.

Almost done with 1st palace, not sure if I'm doing something wrong but the battles are quite difficult. I think it's because I don't have any ma- skills. Don't really feel like using 12 of Ryuji's 30 SP on one fight.

Late August Futaba Stuff

The last update was all Futaba stuff, which makes sense. They fleshed out her character, which aside from her Palace stuff and motivation, she is total comic relief territory. Total "NEET NERD WAIFU" here. I'll stick with Makoto thanks (Goddamn Level 4 Charm block boo)! Anyway, Futaba got over her social awkwardness somewhat. She's not totally Chihiro level social anxiety disorder. She just spent two years as a NEET.

Anyway, Ryuji's starting to be a prick to Morgana about him being "useless" with Futaba taking over as the navigator role. As if you needed any more reason to hate Ryuji, dumping on Morgana twice in two days just to be a prick is one of the big ones. Morgana had a weird ass dream, but I'll probably deal with that now I have the flags for more intense Mementos requests. The problem with those Mementos requests is they are tied to leveling up Mishima. Let's just say he's not high on my priority list when I have 5-8 different female Confidants running right now.

I spent four days at the third palace (not having sent the calling card yet). It was the first dungeon I reached 100% alertness on, and was kicked out. Some of those enemies were really annoying. They ate up a lot of SP too.

Is there a better way to build kindness than the flower shop? I've ignored it entirely since rank 2 and now I need it for a request.

Costs some money but doing it every night you can is a really nice free in terms of time boost

Shinjuku sells better nutrients than the Bio Nutrients. Also, it's 16 days.

Though you need to buy the nutrients, obviously. What nutrients you can buy are plot gated.

Since I'm done with Palace 3, the area difficulty from my perspective is this:

2 > 1 > 3

I had a serious issue with the death spell spam in 2, and the boss was tough through the first 2/3 of the fight, the last 1/3 with perhaps the easiest segment though, and with 1, despite being the introductory Palace, it still offered up some problems too. While 3 felt a lot longer, it never felt overwhelming, and even the boss was very straight forward.

The hardest part of the third palace was enemies not having traditional weaknesses, including the Onis that had no weaknesses period. Without a Persona with Bless / Curse, thing could get hairy. Some of the mini bosses were a tad rough as well.

Boss itself was pretty straight forward.

Personally, dungeon 3 got me to utilize status effects more than i ever did in p3 or p4.

Get Yaksini, and monster defense turns to mush. Despair is a Doom spell. I had to see Makoto keel over to find that out.

I just used Tarunda frequently against physical enemies without weaknesses. Once you drop their attack they aren't that strong.

I thought the 2nd palace was absolutely pathetic compared to the first and the third was much more difficult


If I had to rank palaces in terms of difficulty so far I'd say like

3 > 5 > 1 > 4 > 2

I'll be so happy to be done with these babysitting Futaba scenes.

As for palaces I thought 2 was the easiest. I think I'd go 1 > 4 > 3 > 2 for difficulty so far

This game has the best adult links. At the end of their links, they all go "Of course I know you're a phantom thief, do I look stupid?", it's great.

Spoilers to that point: You know, I hope Makoto (or somebody, but let's be real Makoto is the only one smart enough to point this out if MC isn't getting the option to) that something is obviously super fishy about the whole Medjed thing because even if they did turn themselves in, there's just no real way to verify that they're the real Phantom Thieves. And that on the same note, even if they did nothing, there's probably a decent chance that some people would try to take credit by turning themselves in despite having nothing to do with it and there's no real plausible way for Medjed to tell the difference.

Now it seems obvious that Akechi knows it's us and that Medjed is being used/employed by whatever conspiracy that SIU Director is in on so they'd know if the real Phantom Thieves turned themselves in, but the party wouldn't know this! come on makoto you lived up to my expectations earlier by recording ryjui and ann you can do this (and also figuring out futaba = alibaba instead of letting the others drag that out any longer)!

Also, I forget if Sae introduced herself when she met MC at Leblanc the first time, but it seems a bit weird to me that the party (again, possible exception Makoto) hasn't figured out who she is and that she's Makoto's sister (even if she hasn't introduced herself I'm pretty sure Sojiro has called her Niijima in front of MC/Morgana). Speaking of Sae, at first I was jokingly calling the Judgment link a continuity error because despite being formed in the "present" you presumably benefit from the effects in the flashback. ...But then the party discussed something that made me come up with a more elaborate theory for how this all checks out. Curious to see where this all goes or if it's just me thinking too hard about it.

Personally my go-to for dealing with this was Morgana's Lucky Punch. It seems to have like a 50-60% hit + crit rating which downs them so you can get to a hold up. Otherwise Tarunda or status effects neutralize them fairly well.

Since everyone has been doing it, characters so far: Makoto > Yusuke > Morgana >= Ann > Ryuji

Lucky Punch is the go-to Ghost Monster killer, especially with a decent success rate. That is the only reason I let Morgana keep it.

Yeah, that's the awesome part. Yoshida is particularly cool since you don't take out a Mementos boss on his behalf. You more or less blow your cover to Kawakami and Takami when you ask the names of the targets for their links

[3rd Palace]

Anyone want to explain what's up with the Safe Rooms in this one? Am I missing something? There was exactly one in the first part, and there's a midboss battle before the second one. And immediately after the second, in the very next room, with no other battles or anything between them is the third one! What the hell?

Yeah, 3rd Palace Safe Rooms were weird as hell. I spent a good deal of time convinced I somehow missed one despite the map showing that to be impossible and then when I ran into the 2nd/3rd one you mention I was just like "well okay then sure let's go with that." Really the only purpose the third one serves is saving you a loading zone. >_>

What's the deal with this capsule machine? I have gotten the same 3-4 prizes like 10 times each. Is it completely random or do some days have different prizes? Also I have tried interacting with everything in the Shibuya arcade, but it seems like you can't play anything?

Boss itself was pretty straight forward.

Marin Karlin is op as shit on them. They murder whatever else you are fighting and then just sit there once everything else is dead. Minibosses that summon enemies vulnerable to it are hilarious because they just give you another party member. Sleep is OK too if you just need to not deal with one for a few rounds. Confuse is also strong. And everyone else covered the other statuses.


Thanks for reminding me about the stupid plant. I did it once or twice and thought "wow this is really good" and then forgot about it because....being nice is for chumps I guess? But now I need it so I'm the chump.

9/5 Story and Confidant stuff

While I agree the party is not as cohesive as P4's, I will give this game credit for giving each character different motivations for being a Phantom Thief. If only Ryuji would shut the fuck up about wanting to be famous or bang chicks and worse yet reveal themselves all at once to the public as a means to do it every goddamn text or every cutscene, I wouldn't hate him as much. Ann and Futaba have storyline reasons, Yusuke is looking for artistic inspiration, while Makoto has kind of an identity crisis. Morgana has the most to gain, which is sprinkled throughout the narrative plenty.

Takemi opened up a Mementos quest...this game does an amazing job of tying everything back to the storyline somehow. Along with some others I picked up this past month, I have five requests to tackle. It's finally time to see those Invig 3 accessories in action.
