I mean a lot of years, not just like a few years after you graduated high school.


There was this one guy who recently friended me that was like my best friend when I was little. I don't think I had talked to him since I was 8 or so. I accepted his friend request but I defriended him several weeks later as I gradually realized from his posts he was virulently racist. Those kind of attitudes aren't really developed at the age we last saw each other, so it was a pretty big shock since you have no idea how people might turn out as adults

Nope. I tend to not add people who are not part of my life outside of family and even then I'm selective.

A fun fact a gal I kissed and had as "gf" when around the age of 9 is now more man than me. She always was a tomboy so that's not a surprise. Not sure if she's had a full sex change or what though. She's on Facebook too.

I have like 70ish people on facebook, but I only know about 15-20 of them. Every one requested to me first, the two people I've actually requested never added me. lol

i friended someone i played halo with all the time, talked everyday on xbox live even.

but the minute i sent them a friend request they blocked me from both facebook and xbox live.

it wasn't like i had figured out his name and stalked him to send him a friend request, we both knew each others full name, birthdays, ect. we had even shared addresses.

though now that i think of it, the address he gave me probably wasn't actually his if that's how he responded to me wanting him as a friend on facebook.

He was a vocal Trump supporter, even early in the primaries when it wasn't popular to be seen supporting him. Specifically a lot of his posts seemed to focus specifically on immigration and terrorism but I don't really remember the specifics other than the one that was the final straw for me. It was something like this:

"FUCK ALL IMMIGRANTS
FUCK ISLAM"

Neither of those are explicitly racist though.

Well, like I said, I don't remember everything he said exactly, but I'm pretty sure if you saw all of it you'd think he's a racist. But then again you've spent a lot of time in Central Florida so maybe not

I have family members I've found through Facebook that I've never met before. It's nice to actually get to know them knowing that I never would without internet.

I added a friend I had as a kid but I'm not good at initiating conversation so nothing really came of it. I can engage conversation just fine but I can never start it. It is my downfall.

Yeah, I never really talk to anybody on Facebook besides people who I already talked to anyway, but I think that's kind of what everybody does with it

Yea, I added my old childhoid friend from forever ago, but still haven't talked to him. Now it's been so long since then that it'd be weird to start it up out of the blue.

Yup, I've friended people I haven't talked to in 10+ years. Both me sending the request and them sending the request. Most of them I hadn't talked to since Freshman year of high school.

I added a bunch of folks from high school when I first made my Facebook account. Was kinda depressing too at the time when I saw how much some have done in their lives and how little I have done. Still, it was good to see many of them doing well but I never reconnected with any of them.

To be fair, the 'validity' of your opinion should be dismissed for a myriad of reasons not the least of which is you being from Florida.
