Various things I noticed with the results to WrestleMania last night...

- Brock Lesnar is the seventh person to pin Goldberg in a matchup and officially the first person to defeat Goldberg clean. The six before him are Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Lex Luger, and Triple H
- Jeff Hardy only needs the United States Championship to achieve the new Modern Grand Slam. He's already completed the original Grand Slam when he won the WWE title in 2008.
- With his victory yesterday, Kevin Owens only needs a tag title reign to achieve the Modern Grand Slam
- Undertaker reclaims the lead for most ppv main events in WWE history, now sitting at 69. Second place is Cena with 68, 3rd place is Triple H with 67. The next closest active wrestler on the list is Randy Orton, who's #5 with 44 ppv main events (#4 is HBK with 48)
- Also with yesterday most likely being the end of Taker's career, this means his final televised victory in a WWE ring was against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32
- Orton's WWE title victory puts him in a tie for third place with Hulk Hogan at 13 reigns a piece. In 2nd place alone is Trips with 14, and first place is a tie between Cena and Flair at 16
- Orton's victory also marked the first time since 2013 that the Royal Rumble winner won a world title at WrestleMania

I'm still blown away that DELETE was the most over thing on the whole show, and it isn't even their gimmick. What does that tell you about the product? Is ANYONE with ANY power in this company taking notice of this? Everything you've built for a year was surpassed by two drug addicts with a camera, a drone, a lake, a boat, and an old mexican dude. Yeah, you can buy them and have them work for you now, sure. But this speaks to a MUCH larger problem that "pay those guys to work for us" does not come close to solving....

Incredibly enough, yes. Out of the 11 losses, only Brock has the clean win.

1) Kevin Nash at Starrcade, when Goldberg jobbed to a tazer
2) Bret Hart on a Nitro in October 99. The Outsiders and Sid Vicious interfered and destroyed Goldberg. Bret Hart, (allegedly at the time) unaware of their interference, pins Goldberg
3) Bret Hart at Starrcade 99, where he beats Goldberg via Montreal Screwjob, where Roddy Piper is playing the role of Earl Hebner. Disgusted by how he won, Hart vacates the belt immediately

7) In a tag team match at Sin 2001 with Buddy Lee Parker against Totally Buff (Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell). A "fan" maced Goldberg outside the ring and Goldberg eats a Buff Blockbuster afterwards. Luger pins Goldberg to "retire" him out of WCW
8) Triple H at SummerSlam 2003; Trips gets the pin after blocking a spear with a sledgehammer to the skull
9) Triple H again on a Raw in November, when Goldberg had to take on Evolution in a 3-on-1 handicap match
10) Triple H a third time at Armageddon 2003 in a triple threat match featuring Kane. Interference from Evolution, followed by a low blow from Trips and a chokeslam from Kane. Evolution pulls Kane out of the ring so that Trips can pin Goldberg for the world title.
11) Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, clean.

That's because the external products don't depend on finding new ways to attempt to get Roman over with the majority of the fanbase. Until Vince is no longer making decisions this problem will persist and things like DELETE will be more over than homegrown stuff.

I didn't watch. Any match I had interest in on paper had very predictable results. And I'm too casual in investment to brush it off as "well that was expected, but let's see where we go from here". I'll probably watch Taker's last moment on youtube. Awesome wrestler awesome career. I'll echo Rock's post. This Roman/Taker storyline wasn't compelling to me because it seemed to mostly be "we really, REALLY, need to get Taker out of here".

Comments about the party I was at for Mania.

Before everyone got there, some of us watched NXT Takeover. Sanity vs Not Sanity was really, really, really fun. Am I alone in loving Alexander Wolfe be a dumb weirdo with his stupid dances? I could watch that dude forever. Killian Dane does absolutely nothing for me. Super fun match.

Aleistar Black had such a good entrance and I'm sold on the dude.

Asuka was having so much fun in her match. She has loads of charisma and why is she not on the main roster?

The triple threat tag match was probably the best match of NXT/Wrestlemania. It was really something special and the rate that Authors of Pain improved is impressive.

Nakamura vs Roode was outstanding and I'm glad that Nakamura lost so he can finally be on the main roster.

We all expected Aries vs Neville to be better but then we realized they are probably trying to do fancy stuff with the sun in their eyes. They probably wanted to save some stuff until they could get on a PPV too.

The Andre Battle Royale was the most confusing thing. People seemingly got eliminated totally randomly without any reason. Like half of a tag team outlasted the others by five minutes. Why was Titus in there for so long? And the final three at Killian Dane, Mojo Rawley, and Jinder Mahal. We were all checked out until Gronk came out, and then we all said it was stupid but fun. But Mojo Rawley. lol

Dean Ambrose vs Baron Corbin was whatever. Nobody cared. We thought Ambrose looked pissed that he was bumped to pre-show.

We were LIVID that Booker T didn't do the Shucky Ducky Quack Quack Moment and that we all felt like we wasted our time with the pre-show as a result.

I was the only one that understood what the fuck New Day was dressed like.

AJ vs Shane was so much fun and we were having a great time. After Shane went through the table and then got to the top rope to say a prayer and I went "Why would he say a prayer from the top rope after he just went through a table? He should have said the prayer there!" And then he did the Shooting Star Press and we all lost our minds. We did not expect that.

Owens vs Jericho was great (and in the prediction game we have, it was the only match I predicted wrong, but I felt compelled to say Jericho should win). We were all talking about how everything Owens said was more painful than the moves he was doing to Jericho. :(

Then we kept discussing whether or not the Hardy Boyz would be showing up. We all agreed it's never going to happen. And then New Day teased it and we kept waffling on the possibility of it until the Hardy Boyz came out. We went absolutely crazy. Easily the highlight of the night and we had an entire house of people chanting "DELETE!" as they came out. Awesome match. Loved the Hardy Boyz winning. So happy. We also all loved Cesaro.

The RAW Women's Match was just a mess and we liked it well enough but we knew their time was absolutely cut. It just felt like such a whatever match though.

Miz/Maryse vs Cena/Nikki was a match we all checked out of because it was actually more underwhelming than we expected, but we were okay because Wrestlemania had been awesome up to this point. When it was over and Cena proposed, all of the guys could not pretend to care and thought it was kind of dumb and that he was going on too long which, I know it's your proposal but it's also a Wrestlemania show that's going to go past midnight. The girls at the party though were all near tears and thought it was the sweetest thing. Us guys all kept ourselves amused by thinking of how many ways they could have Cena do a heel turn here by AAing Nikki and then high fiving his mom ringside.

We all really enjoyed Triple H vs Seth Rollins, but god it was way too long. We all tuned out in the middle when it was endless working over of the leg. You could have easily taken out at least ten minutes of this match and given it to someone else. But the Pedigree counters were great and we all marked for Steph going through the table because we all think she's just insufferable. Then I made the comment that for a year when Stephanie McMahon is just absolutely unwatchable she always gets hers for one day on Wrestlemania. And it is totally not worth it. But yay Seth. We were sad Foley, Balor, or Joe didn't get involved. I cannot understand that.

I know a lot of people hated Orton vs Wyatt, but we had a ton of fun with the stupid projector. The best part of the night was me trying to explain this fucking storyline because the recap made no sense to people. It still made no sense to people and we all concluded that wrestling is fucking stupid.

The Smackdown Women's match was such a god damn mess, but we all really enjoyed their entrances. Someone asked to explain Ellsworth, to which me and my buddy went "That's the Big Hog!" and did the Hogsworth dance. Everyone loved Naomi's entrance though.

Goldberg vs Lesnar was a work of art. We all got close to our loudest with that first spear out of nowhere from Goldberg. We all went nuts for it.

And then Roman vs Undertaker made us all depressed because it was an awful match, everyone there thinks Roman is the dumbest and made fun of the recaps where he kept saying "Dis is my yard!" Basically, it was just difficult to watch. Poor Taker. Roman is only ever as good as his opponent, so he had no chance of making this watchable. I listened to Bryan and Vinny talk about this on the way home and was curious what match they watched, because this was something awful. We laughed when they tried to suddenly make Roman seem very sad and sympathetic about having to beat Undertaker. And we laughed at Roman fucking up the ending. Roman was a big who gives a fuck. And we were all sad and tired when Undertaker retired.

But here's the thing. We had an amazing time. Last year, we hated Wrestlemania. We thought it sucked. Everyone left before Roman vs Triple H, myself included. But we were constantly happy and excited during this show until the main event. It goes to show that if WWE just takes out all of the bullshit moments where they try to bring back legends and shoehorn a bunch of crap nobody cares about into it that people have a much better time. And it's like if they put on an entertaining show, even casual fans and people who HATE wrestling have a good time. My one buddy's wife hates wrestling and even she was super into it and asking questions constantly! Give us good shows! Give us things we want! WWE can rebuild if they don't fall back into their awful bullshit booking and events.

And everyone thought the concert was truly horrible. Everyone made fun of Lunchmoney Lewis because this idiot's name is Lunchmoney Lewis. Even the people who don't like wrestling there thought it was bad. Nobody could understand why they keep having these performances. Does it even get them any publicity?

And yeah, we were all super excited to see JR. We didn't really listen/pay attention to the commentary much because we all like to talk and enjoy ourselves during the matches. We did say that Byron's suit was something nightmarish. All of the girls dubbed Chris Jericho the best dressed because of his light up scarf though and nobody believed me when I said his jacket was $15k.

I'd say I want to go back and watch Taker vs Roman again to listen to JR's commentary but holy shit, I can't fathom ever watching that match again. It was legitimately just depressing to witness.
