I would like to share with you all now the deadliest 7 tiles I have ever experienced in a civ game.

game:
difficulty - emperor
map - continents
Turns - marathon
me: germans
On my continent - England to the East
Pericles to the South East
Mvemba a Nzinga - Southern border
Montezuma - Fractured civ deep south
Saladin west

BcMIqK6

This is the mountain pass called Hell's Rhodes

2dUIMUD
As you see here, I have taken London and Bradford

Originally Victoria and Pericles and I were all battling for continental supremacy. My southern border was always heavily defended with multiple encampments and this pass was required to encircle any of my cities with Berlin being on the front lines and Aachen, my capital, due north of Berlin.

uRgpVaB
With a great inland sea and cliffs protecting it's cities Shetfield and London were impossible to capture early game like I tried multiple times. There was a constant naval arms race for supremacy until London was captured in the Atomic age. Shetfield and London were both protected from the north so an attack through Hell's Rhodes was the obvious choice for me as well.

So back to the tiles, for centuries we had been fighting over those tiles. From about 3000 BC to 600 AD it we me vs. England/Greece in a series of joint wars with me trying to capture either Pericle's northern most city, pharsalos, or me trying to take London.

So I was typically pinned down with an archer unit in tile 1 with back ups in tile 3 and my quarry for healing. Tile 2 and 5 were typically as far as the english and greeks ever got, it wasn't until after 600 AD, when Greece built Rhodes on tile 4 which caused Victoria to ask me to have a joint war against Pericles. I captured and sacked Rhodes quickly as it had a single unit backing it up and i was able to surround it. After the joint English/German war I managed to expand my peace time holdings to include tiles 1, 3, 4, 6, 7.

At this point the German/English wars for the great inland sea were escalating so my archer and siege units in tiles 4, 6, 7 were critical in defeating an English war effort that included 2 harbors to my 1 though it was really a defensive war with me barely holding them off from taking Nuremberg or landing near Aachen.

Then with the technological advancement that allowed the creation of tanks, suddenly a new strategy for war appeared. The German blitzkrieg from Nuremerg was able to pass through Shetfield with minimal damage and head straight for London which allowed the English Redcoats to be surrounded and destroyed which allowed my Hell's Rhodes siege units to destroy the defenses. I was then able to to negotiate the ceding of Bradford for an Eastern ocean route for British peace, but I also gave them numerous luxury resources. So remarkably England is an ally and don't really care about me occupying London.

I wonder if a civ game could do 3+ party agreements for joint wars or alliances or defensive pacts or have joint wars against more than 1 civ (i.e. germany and england against pericles and aztecs, regardless of whether Pericles and Aztecs are allied or whatever).

I've had games were I do a joint war with someone, and a 3rd party is already at war or declares war against who I declared war against, but that 3rd party still considers me war mongers.

Or I would like to have ways to have war alliances for wars already in progress, like i do a joint war with england and then later ado a joint war with saladin against the civ i am already at war against.

Also how is Jadwiga? I never like the religious spreading/combat part of the game, I typically turn off religious victories and build maybe 1 or 2 holy sites at most just to get fertility + work ethic combo and enough points to build apostles for defense against other religions. So because of that she didn't look that fun for me, because her taking land thing just pisses off others I assume.

I use religion more to compliment another victory type, so going for relics is not a bad idea if you're going for a cultural victory. Plus, you get a wildcard slot instead of a military slot in every government type which makes things flexible.

But yeah, the culture bomb does piss off other civs; Australia has the same problem with pastures.

I never found the number of relic slots you can easily get to be worth their culture output, so I didn't see them that way.

What do you mean wildcard instead of military slot, I am not sure what you mean there.

also, new patch introduced a bug with artifacts

the game now uses leader names instead of civ names to determine from which civ came the artifact (presumably to remove ambiguity if Gorgo and Pericles are in the same map)

thing is the barbarians have no leader, so the name shows up blank

seems like an easy fix would be to either give the barbarians a dummy leader called Barbarians, or make an exception for barbarians to use their "civ name" instead

eh, im starting a new game. cyrus was turning good, but i am using the small continents map mod and i spawned on a small continent by myself and 4 city states, 2 of which i took over but was only able to build 5 cities (so 7 total) and so i couldnt get a good military industrial complex going.

so i am going to make small continents low water levels and play as alexander for full domination.

Alexander is so much fun to play as

No need to invest too much in your own cities, just make 2 or 3 troop factories and take everything else you need from other people

Captured a city with a wonder? All troops get healed (even those that weren't around)

Did the city have districts? You get eurekas depending on district type

Might even be theoretically possible to blaze through the tech and culture trees by taking over the world

I got a near godly start with Alexander on an inland sea map. Barbarians are running wild with huge outposts of like 5-10 horseman so they are keeping Germany in check to the east. To the west the great Yosemite mountain range is making it impossible for India to encroach on my space. So right now I have wide open borders with ~10 land military units and quadremes. I beat off a joint English/Brazilian war to the north which resulted in many resources for the Great Macedonian empire for about the next 20 turns.

I have a city that I will start building the Great Zimbabwe in probably 100 turns in which has like 8 bonus resource in its city limits.

well, this game has been quite the grind. I've spent a stupid amount of hours on it, but in terms of how many turns it's taken, it's been about the usual when going for other victory types so far

I've taken down 9 capitals, still two more to go (France's and Rome's)

I wiped out the Aztecs, Greece, and Egypt. France took down Japan at some point.
